2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> August 2, 2004 <br /> COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Santuit Pond Dam Update: <br /> Correspondence was received from Haley and Aldrich dated July 20, 2004 <br /> relative to a site visit to the Santuit Pond dam to view and assess the flow <br /> of the existing fish ladder/pond outlet structure. The dam was determined <br /> to be of intermediate size and medium hazard. Failure of the dam would <br /> likely have an impact on the Routes 130 and 28 culverts located <br /> downstream of the dam. <br /> It was agreed that the matter of interim remedies and long-term <br /> rehabilitation of the structure would be brought before the Open Space <br /> Committee for additional review and comment. The issue was also <br /> requested to be presented to the Emergency Planning Committee to ensure <br /> that a contingency plan is in place should the dam fail. <br /> Charles Rowley—Cape Southport Associates LLC: <br /> The Board was in receipt of correspondence from Charles Rowley, Civil <br /> • Engineers and Surveyors dated July 19, 2004 relative to improvements to <br /> Old Barnstable Road for the Southport project. In his opinion,the July <br /> 14th plan is acceptable and reflects the changes that were requested. <br /> r Greg Taylor, Director of Public Works was also noted to be in agreement <br /> with the proposal that incorporates a left-hand turn lane into the Southport <br /> Community. It was noted that a hearing is scheduled next week with <br /> Verizon to move the necessary utility poles. Construction is anticipated to <br /> commence in early fall. <br /> Chairman's Committee: <br /> The Board of Selectmen were invited to attend the Chairman's Committee <br /> meeting of Tuesday, August 10, 2004 to discuss growth,permitted <br /> development and traffic issues in the Mashpee rotary area. <br /> Letters of Appreciation: <br /> In response to another successful event in Town,the Selectmen agreed to <br /> send letters of appreciation to the Director of the annual Mashpee Night at <br /> the Pops and to the Police and Fire Departments. <br /> • <br />
