2 Board of Selectmen Minutes August 2, 2004 COMMUNICATIONS AND CORRESPONDENCE: Santuit Pond Dam Update: Correspondence was received from Haley and Aldrich dated July 20, 2004 relative to a site visit to the Santuit Pond dam to view and assess the flow of the existing fish ladder/pond outlet structure. The dam was determined to be of intermediate size and medium hazard. Failure of the dam would likely have an impact on the Routes 130 and 28 culverts located downstream of the dam. It was agreed that the matter of interim remedies and long-term rehabilitation of the structure would be brought before the Open Space Committee for additional review and comment. The issue was also requested to be presented to the Emergency Planning Committee to ensure that a contingency plan is in place should the dam fail. Charles Rowley—Cape Southport Associates LLC: The Board was in receipt of correspondence from Charles Rowley, Civil • Engineers and Surveyors dated July 19, 2004 relative to improvements to Old Barnstable Road for the Southport project. In his opinion,the July 14th plan is acceptable and reflects the changes that were requested. r Greg Taylor, Director of Public Works was also noted to be in agreement with the proposal that incorporates a left-hand turn lane into the Southport Community. It was noted that a hearing is scheduled next week with Verizon to move the necessary utility poles. Construction is anticipated to commence in early fall. Chairman's Committee: The Board of Selectmen were invited to attend the Chairman's Committee meeting of Tuesday, August 10, 2004 to discuss growth,permitted development and traffic issues in the Mashpee rotary area. Letters of Appreciation: In response to another successful event in Town,the Selectmen agreed to send letters of appreciation to the Director of the annual Mashpee Night at the Pops and to the Police and Fire Departments. •
