353 '10 ARTICLE 51. To see if the Town will vote to increase the Police Department by four full-time police officers, or take any other action thereon. Submitted by the Police Department. Finance Committee Recommends one fulltime police officer. ACTION: Moved and seconded to increase the Police Department by one full-time police officer. Vote carried. ARTICLE 52. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or take from available funds the sum of $36,000 for salaries of these in the previous Article or take any other action thereon. Submitted by the Police Department. Recommended by Finance Committee to Raise and Appropriate $9,000.00 , ACTION: Moved and seconded to riase and appropriate the sum of $9,000.00. Vote carried. ARTICLE 53. To see if the Town will vote to Raise and Appropriate or take from mailable funds the sum of $2,090.88 for the purchase of clothing and equipment for four fulltime police officers or take any other action thereon. Submitted by the police department. Recommended by Finance Committee to Raise and Appropriate $522.72. ACTION: Moved and seconded to raise and appropriate the sum of $522.00 for the purchase of clothing and equipment for one fulltime police officer. Vote carried. ARTICLE 54. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or take from mailable funds the sum of $16,400.00 for the hire of summer special police officers to provide foot/bicycle patrols in the Popponesset and shopping areas during the summer months or take any other action thereon. Submitted by the Police Department. Not recommended by Finance Committee. ACTION: Moved and seconded to Indefinitely Postpone. Vote carried. ARTICLE 55. To see if the Town will vote to authorize a police motorboat , to patrol the inland waters within the Town or take any other action thereon. Submitted by the Police Department. Not Recommended by Finance Committee. ACTION: Moved and seconded to Indefinitely Postpone. Vote carried. ARTICLE 56. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or take from available funds the sum of $ for purchase of a boat, motor and trailer to patrol the inland waters of the Town, or take any other action thereon. Submitted by the Police Department. Not recommended by Finance Committee. ACTION: Moved and seconded to Indefinitely Postpone. Vote carried. ARTICLE 57. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or take from available funds the sum of $1,500.00 for off-duty courses as called for in the current Police Contract or take any other action thereon. Submitted by the Police Department. Recommended by Finance Committee to Raise and Appropriate. ACTION: Moved and seconded to raise and appropriate $1,500.00. Vote I carried. ARTICLE 58. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate* or take from available funds a sum of money not to exceed $15,522.53 for the maintenance and construction of town roads. Such a sum of money, representing a portion of funds available under Chapter 497, Acts of 1971 (Highway Fund) to appear as a credit on the 1977 "Cherry Sheet", or take any other action thereon. Submitted by the Highway Department. Recommended by Finance Committee to Raise and Appropriate. ACTION: Moved and seconded to take from available funds the sum of $15,522.58. Vote carried.
