Mr. Benway: That is the Wiseman property. Their well is here and their septic is
over here.
Atty. Boyd: What is over the other side?
Mr. Benway: Nothing. Let me ask a question: Is it the septic tank or leaching field
or both that is required to be ?5 feet away?
Wayne: The leaching pit.
Mr. Benway: Is that the same thing as l&aching field?
Pauline: Yes, the same thing.
Mr. Benway: It is more important to have the leaching field; nothing comes from a septic
pit -- that is concrete. That is my understanding.
Pauline: It all has to come under Title V.
Wayne: And the other thing that I would check with the Board of Health on again is side
lines.
Mr. Benway: It has to be 15 feet from the side line.
Wayne: Also check to see what the distance should be between leaching fields because the
ground gets saturated sometimes. You are getting close with these two together.
Mr. Benway: Right. You don't want them on top of each other obviously.
Wayne: If you check with them, that is our approval as far as that is concerned. The
general locale is fine with us but for a more specific location, you will have to get from
the Board of Health.
Mr. Benway: One more thing that has crossed my mind. Would you tell me what Mr. Hennigan
said about fill?
Barbara: A lot.
fill
Mr. Benway: I want to know specifically because/is going to be required here. My point
would be, for example, say they dig a pit where your septic unit is going to go and you go
down 4 to 5 feet and you hit water but there is going to be 4Z to 5 feet of fill brought in
what, therefore, is required as far as the location of the septic. It is my understanding
that the bottom of the septic has to be 4 feet above any level of the water. It is also my
understanding if fill is brought in and the septic system goes into that filled gravel area,
it is raised. It has to be 4 feet above that point.
Wayne: And that is why you are going to a leaching field instead of a leaching pit.
Atty. Boyd: (Reads from the minutes of January 9, 1980, Mr. Hennigan's statement on page 1
about the approval of the location of the test pit site for the septic systems) If they
have been approved, why do we have to move them?
Pauline: Charlie questioned something on it.
