9. Play Structures
Mr. Robbins thought this category was eliminated during previous Commission discussions
in the event that a family had only a front yard to install a play structure. Wording was
changed to read, "If possible, permanent play structures should be kept to the rear of the
property . . ."to allow greater flexibility.
Swimming pool fences were exempted from the draft during the last meeting.
10. Signs
Some signage issues deleted from the text.
11. Lighting
Lighting issues were updated at the last meeting. Lamp posts exceeding 9ft. are
discouraged. There was discussion regarding the amount of light, specifically flood lights
infringing on adjacent properties and whether or not lighting could cross property lines. A new section regarding historic light fixtures was added.
12. Original Historic Light Fixtures
The Commission's goal in adding this section is to ensure that nothing radical occurs in
lighting.
B. Architectural Features
1. Additions
Text was added to the draft as a guideline as to how best to build an addition and some
deletions were made.
2. Chimneys
The original chimney should be maintained.
3. Doors and Entryways
The language was softened regarding doorways by encouraging applicants to maintain the
historic details whenever possible, but any necessary replacements should closely match the
historical detail work.
4. Dormers
4
