of awarding calendars to the 3 writing and 3 artwork contest winners. Local businesses, such as 99, <br /> Starbucks, Blockbuster, Roche Brothers, Dino's and/or Zoe's will be contacted to request gift card <br /> donations that can be used as awards for contest winners. The event will have press coverage. <br /> Ms. Wray recommended that invitations to the breakfast be sent to Miriam Zuber, Gail Wilson, Jackie <br /> Fields, Theresa Cook and Ann Bradshaw. Ms. Farren will forward Ms. Bocco's agenda by email. Ms. <br /> Farren also suggested the possibility of malting the Resolution of Respect available at the breakfast and <br /> will email a copy of the document, as well as the NPFH logo,to Ms. Bocco. Ms. Wray volunteered to <br /> man an NPFH table where breakfast attendees could sign the Resolution of Respect. Ms. Wray <br /> questioned whether or not attendees would be able to make donations but Ms. Bocco and Ms. Vaughn <br /> responded that breakfast items are being donated and there would be no need to collect donations. <br /> Food for the breakfast will be donated by Mr. Bob Scott. Groups such as the Key Club, National <br /> Honor Society, Human Rights Club, Choir and Acapella all plan to volunteer their time to assist with <br /> the event. <br /> World of Difference Calendar Art Contest 2010 <br /> Ms. Farren received unofficial word that some artwork may have been selected from among the <br /> approximately 50 drawings received from the Quashnet School. Calendars have not yet been made <br /> available, however Ms. Farren has the drawings on a disc. <br /> Coalition Meeting Update <br /> Ms. Farren attended the November 18 meeting held at Sandwich High School. Various Cape and <br /> South Shore members were in attendance. Ms. Farren reported that the Harwich representative has <br /> stepped down and Cyndi Denmark, the Sandwich representative, has agreed to step in as Co-Chair. <br /> The representative from Barnstable reported about the anti-Semitic desecration of the Chabad Jewish <br /> Center and the subsequent rally of support attended by close to 500 people from all walks of life. ACT <br /> (All Come Together) is a high school group, established as a follow up to their Challenge Day, which <br /> has been involved with hate issues. Jackie Fields of the Human Rights Commission reported about the <br /> International Human Rights Day on December 10 that would feature a presentation from Sgt. Lopes of <br /> Provincetown. Ms. Fields also emphasized the importance of having a member from the Police Dept. <br /> on committees. Ms. Fields added that the Human Rights Commission meets with Cape Police Chiefs <br /> throughout the year. Ms. Farren reported that Gail Wilson will be speaking with Mashpee's Police <br /> Dept and suggested that the topic should be addressed at a future meeting. Ms. Farren's report to the <br /> Coalition included details about the Committee's educational programs as well as upcoming Cultural <br /> Awareness training that will be made available to Department Heads through the Department of <br /> Justice. Sandwich recently became a NPFH Community and hosted a successful interactive event <br /> about international adoption. Marshfield and Hingham are co-sponsoring Race and Place events, <br /> sponsored by Boston's Fair Housing, to educate people about issues of housing and race. Duxbury <br /> will be hosting a Martin Luther King breakfast and featuring the film "Silent Beats" about stereotyping <br /> and tying into the"Pyramid of Hate," which Ms. Farren distributed to the Committee. Ms. Farren <br /> noted that the Coalition meeting provides a wonderful opportunity to network and that a future meeting <br /> may include a film with discussion following. The Coalition also discussed anti-bullying. <br /> Ms. Farren suggested the possibility of Mashpee building a No Place for Hate Committee, separate <br /> from the Affirmative Action Committee, noting that there might be greater interest from the <br /> community and pointing out Falmouth's success. Ms. Vaughn recommended contacting teachers who <br /> may be interested. Ms. Vaughn further suggested the possibility that the high school's Human Rights <br /> Club might be able to offer a different taking an active role in a NPFH community. It was also <br /> suggested that local employers might be interested in becoming involved. Ms. Vaughn suggested <br /> 2 <br />
