5 <br /> Capital Improvement Program Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> December 7, 2016 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> Department of Public Works: FY18 -Revised Budget: $3592.47: (continued) <br /> Rel2lacement of 2012 John Deere Mower: 150,000: <br /> In the CIP Program,the 2012 John Deere Mower is proposed for replacement. Although regular <br /> maintenance is performed, it is recommended this equipment be considered for replacement <br /> before any major repairs are required. The machine mows all athletic fields and is used to mow <br /> other large grass areas in town. The project proposal was HELD for additional review. <br /> Replacement of 2009 Ford Esca e: $45,000: <br /> The DPW Director vehicle is proposed for replacement in fiscal year 2018. The 2009 Ford <br /> Escape is used for snow and ice operations and by the maintenance staff. The multi-purpose <br /> vehicle was transferred from the Police Department in 2013 and has an estimated 44,000 miles. <br /> A pick-up truck with plow is proposed for replacement. Although replacement of this vehicle is <br /> not urgent it is recommended the vehicle be replaced before it is no longer functioning. <br /> Ms. Laurent prioritized the replacement of DPW"operational equipment in the order as listed. <br /> The replacement program was taken under advisement at this time. <br /> Planning& Construction: <br /> With the recent resignation of Iry Goldberg,the Planning& Construction Committee is <br /> comprised of the following membership; Andrew Gottlieb, Steve Cook, Joe Brait, Tom O'Neill, <br /> and Scott McGee. Catherine Laurent,the Director of Public Works is the respective liaison. <br /> The following projects were identified in the Planning& Construction capital improvement <br /> program; <br /> Floor Replacement: $50,000: <br /> Replacement flooring is an annual CIP funding request appropriating $50,000 per year. During <br /> the past four years,the main focus has been for the replacement of carpeting at the Middle/High <br /> School. To date, almost 50%of the carpeting has been replaced in the twenty year old facility. <br /> uashnet School Emergency Generator Replacement: $75,000: <br /> Replacement of the Quashnet School emergency generator original to the school's construction <br /> in 1978 is prioritized for funding and mandated by the state for schools in the matter of safety. <br /> The replacement generator has been in the CIP program since 2014. The existing generator is <br /> located inside the school building and there are issues with exhaust. A new generator would be <br /> installed outdoors within the loading dock area. <br />
