The Chair informed the members that he was contacted by three entities regarding the closing of Zacharies. One of the entities was for assisted living, another for a drug treatment center and the third an entertainment venue. He let them know EDIC would be willing to help them thru the process. If the property needs to be repositioned or if someone wants to fix the property, the zoning bylaw may not allow it. The Chair noted we are a newer town and have a lot of potential to attract businesses. We have to let people know"Mashpee is Open for Business". There was a discussion on developing an RFP for rewriting the zoning bylaws and noted the town manager is presently the Chief Procurement Officer and EDIC may need to wait for the assistant town manager to be hired before proceeding. Terrie Cook suggested appointing a working group and the Chair appointed himself, Terrie Cook and Bob Cobuzzi to the working group and after Monday if they get approval from Selectmen they can proceed. RESET Project Carol Sherman reported there was nothing new on the RESET Project and she emailed Phil Damstrom asking him where we stand. FDIC Director Description Update Hold until the hiring of the Assistant Town Manager Investment Options Update The Chair, Terrie Cook, and Mary LeClair signed the cards from the bank and the Chair will meet with Cape Cod Five to discuss the 3 step process. Budget Working Group Update The Chair noted the workgroups: RESET Project, Zoning Changes Workgroup, Job Description Working Group and Budget Working Group. Denise Dutson noted that she and Robyn Simmons are on the Budget Working Group and decided at this time,they didn't have anything to budget except for the interest. New Business New Board Discussion Denise Dutson spoke about developing a document to help businesses when they want to come into town.—It was noted FDIC already has developed"Guide for Businesses". It was originally developed in 2013 with updated inserts. These are available at the Chamber and at the banks. It guides a business step by step on what they need to do when they want to open a business in Mashpee.
