Action Item #12...Coordinate Plan with Water District...
Glen Harrington said communication framework set up through Emergency Planning. He said Water
District gave portions of the Plan but wouldn't release entire Plan.
Action Item #13...Wildfire assessment for 6 Town Parcels...
Both Tom Rullo and Andrew McManus said this is still on-going. Tom said we have the group to help
manage that Plan and the group manages the 6 town-owned parcels.
Action Item #14...Identify hazard mitigation programs...
Glen Harrington said this is set up electronically now. Glen needs access to it through Selectmen's
Office to add input into the CEMP Plan.
Action Item #15...Probability of Tax Credits...
Conclusion: Delete due to practicability.
Catherine Laurent exited the meeting.
Action Item #16...Protection of the floodplain_..._
Mike Mendoza said they are getting ready for the Stn edition of the Building Code.
Drew McManus said local wetland By-Law has been in place for a number of years since adoption at
Town Meeting. Drew noted that the State is looking for language that would incorporate "standards"
for development in flood zone. Mashpee's By-Law already has that in place.
Mike Mendoza said another subject we're hoping to be addressed is we need clarification and
guidelines on how to interpret—does whole structure need to be elevated or torn down when 2"d floor
goes on house that is on or below flood elevation? FEMA has to be very clear on where 2"d or 3rd
level I to be placed on a structure. Mike commented that it doesn't make good code if left to each
town's interpretation—towns should be consistent.
Conclusion: Cally said she will talk to Shannon about need for clarification and guidance to
be provided by FEMA on this issue.
Action Item #17...Incorporate Part 44 into By-Laws...
Group was unclear on the meaning of this question...need clarification.
Conclusion: Cally to clarify.
Action Item #18...Work with County...
Cally explained this Action is about education and grant funding.
Tom Rullo said we are continuing all this. He said the Cape Cod preparedness books are very useful
and he uses all the time at lectures, etc. Also, used by Fire Department is the FEMA Hazard Book.
Tom said update Town website and emergency call-back helpful with this Plan.
4
