Project Address: 593 Main Street continued
Mr. Hanlon said his goal is for his business to get smaller—that is, fewer vehicles; fewer employees.
He invited the neighbors to inspect his property anytime totally unannounced to him.
Mike Mendoza read into the record the July 28, 2017 letter from the Hanlons (copy attached to the
printed set of these minutes).
Committee comments
Veronica Warden read questions/comments posed by Glen Harrington, Health Agent, as follows:
• Grass clippings, etc. will be taken off-site; and nothing is to be stored on the site. Mr. Hanlon
agreed.
• Hanlon Landscape has 7 trucks, but Mr. Hanlon says 2 are never there.
Does owner of the property have to be the applicant making the submission to Plan Review?
Paul Tragiannopoulos, owner of the property, addressed the meeting to acknowledge his
presence. Mr. Hanlon said he doesn't want to invest in the property unless he can run his
business from there.
• Glen noted that Mr. Tragiannopoulos said he would remove the equipment (exhaust fans,
heater, etc.). Glen said Mike Mendoza requested that a permit be obtained to remove the
equipment.
« Glen noted it is imperative that a condition be made that the equipment in the garage and sand
blasting/painting booth and the small addition with the overhead door be removed as they had
no permits to be installed. Mr. Hanlon had no objection to that.
« Glen mentioned back-up alarms on trucks. Mr. Hanlon said only 1 truck has back-up alarm
and it is only there once a day.
• Mr. Hanlon said no repair of vehicles done on site.
Tom Rullo said the Fire Department is not asking for the heater to be removed. Mr. Hanlon said he
would like to have the heater if it stays.
Mike Mendoza said he will check the files and if the small shed at the back was not permitted then it
will have to go back to ZBA for permitting.
Catherine Laurent questioned washing the vehicles on site. Mr. Hanlon said it is no different than
washing a car. Catherine said if washing in the garage, then drains would be needed.
Catherine asked if customers would be at the property. Mr. Hanlon said "no". No selling; no storing
of mulch, etc.—all delivered. Mr. Hanlon said he does not store fertilizer. Right now he has 4 bags
on the property and 4 or 5 one gallon gas tanks stored outside. He said he purchases as he needs.
Parking for residents is in front of the fencing. Catherine advised there is to be no parking on the bike
path in front of the house.
Wayne Taylor asked if Mr. Hanlon had any input from the neighbors. Mr. Hanlon said he just met
them here this morning. Mr. Hanlon commented that he is reputable...will do what he says he will do
and do it when it is to be done.
2
