Proiect Address: 593 Main Street continued
Thomas Rullo noted the Fire Department wants the spray booth removed. Mr. Hanlon said he has no
need for it. Tom Rullo stated that The Fire Department would discuss recommendations with Mr.
Hanlon if he gets the property. Mr. Hanlon said he would be happy to talk with them.
Tom Rullo said there is no problem with the heater—all is permitted correctly. He said the tank is
legal and only heats the one building—the newest addition. Tom said the problem was the spray
painting in the building—no problem with the heating system. Mr. Hanlon said he wouldn't burn
waste oil. He said he would purchase oil.
Mike Mendoza commented that the biggest concern was the spray booth. Mike said the Building
Department condition would be that a Building Permit would have to be secured to remove said booth
equipment and the equipment is all to be gone prior to new ownership.
Mike asked about signage for the site. Mr. Hanlon said he would use his current sign. It is a 24X30
oval sign on a white 4X4 post. Mike advised that he would have to go before Design Review with
location of sign; image of sign with colors, measurements; and whether any lighting is to be used for
the sign at the site.
Mike Mendoza advised that he checked this proposal with Town Counsel and Town Counsel agreed
that this proposed use does fall under the Town By-Laws.
Audience Comments
Robert Lalime of 575 Main Street said it sounds like a great proposal, but they've had problems for
the past 5 years with the sand blasting and the fumes from the paint. He said he is not opposed to
business going in if he does everything he says he would do.
Kathleen Pierce of 575 Main Street said there is no problem as long as he does what he says.
Mr. Lalime said the Town did a horrible job representing them and he just wants to get that on the
record. He said the Fire Department, Board of Health, etc. was down there; everyone did the best
they could but their hands were tied.
CONCLUSION
Motion: Catherine Laurent motioned to approve the home occupation as presented with the
following conditions:
• No repair of vehicles on site.
• Spray booth and exhaust fans in both buildings are to be removed prior to change in
ownership.
• The shed addition will be removed and/or reviewed by ZBA for permitting.
• No sale or storage of landscape materials on site.
• No storage of hazardous materials on site except household quantities not in excess of 10
gallons.
» No storage of commercial vehicles in the garage except if an MDC trap is installed.
Any signage is to be approved by Design Review.
• All commercial activity for home occupation will be within the fenced area.
3
