He asked how much money we <br /> raised? <br /> Bob W. said that the Committee had raised close to $1,000 and the rest came from the <br /> hotel funds through the efforts of the Town Manager. <br /> Another suggestion was to list the ramp in the Cape Cod Disability Access Directory. <br /> Carol Sherman said that she gave the booklet to the Chamber. Bob commented that the <br /> book lists handicap access to beaches. <br /> It was noted that the celebration would be right around the time that the beach opens. <br /> There should be pictures taken of the installation. A suggestion from Trish was to do the <br /> installation before Memorial Day and have the kick off later. <br /> Charlie M. commented about funds for future activities saying that we should discuss <br /> some of the other projects such as the archives, conservation projects using the seven- <br /> year plan as a guideline. <br /> Bob W. said that Police Chief Collins spoke with him today about having the <br /> Harbormaster meet with the Committee to discuss making the boat ramps handicap <br /> accessible. <br /> Charlie mentioned that the Board of Health has received notification from the State that <br /> says semi-pubic and public pools must have handicap access. Some of the pools in Town <br /> that were identified by the committee members were: Sea Mist, Southport, and <br /> Popponesset(which is semi-private,but part of a club which would be included). <br /> Update on South Cape Village re: Compliance with Required Accessibility <br /> Improvements <br /> Charlie M. mentioned that he called and spoke with Melinda Gallant, and she thought it <br /> could wait until after the winter season is over because of the painting. They discussed <br /> that they can put up signs. Melinda said that she thought we were waiting for the new <br /> year. Charlie commented it is now January 9. It was mentioned that Don Megathlin <br /> (who has retired) agreed to the changes that were needed. Charlie said that they did not <br /> make curb cuts near Marshall's and Orvis where they needed to make them. Trish <br /> commented that they need safety precautions near Roche Brothers. Carol Sherman <br /> commented that she was at Roche Brothers the day when a car went into the front area. <br /> In the summer time,they fill the area with stuff. <br /> Committee members feel that it is not a well-designed layout, and that there is not enough <br /> parking by Walgreen's,the Bistro, etc. The parking lot is always jammed. <br />
