Gus Frederick said that the sand should filter in. <br /> Bob W. suggested laying it out without fastening it. Carol Sherman asked if it had <br /> stakes? Bob W. replied"yes". He said that they were looking at the handicapped area— <br /> the big boulder would have to be moved. Gus asked"how much room"? Catherine <br /> replied that they need a path,but not so wide for a vehicle to drive through. Bob W. said <br /> that the mat is five feet wide. <br /> Catherine mentioned that the D.P.W. spreads out the sand by the middle part of April <br /> before the pippin plover nesting season. <br /> Members discussed the time frame. Gus mentioned Memorial Day and commented that <br /> the lifeguards come on around June 15 - 20. <br /> Carol.Sherman suggested Thursday, May 17t"which would be a few weeks prior to <br /> Memorial Day. All were in agreement for May 17 with a time to be decided at the next <br /> A.D.A. meeting which is scheduled for Thursday, May IOtn <br /> Plans for the ceremony were discussed with suggestions that the ceremony be scheduled <br /> a few days after the beach is open. Carol Sherman mentioned Flag Day, Thursday, June <br /> 14. Trish Parolski thought that was a great idea and suggested having an article in The <br /> Enterprise. Bob W. will also contact Heather W. from the Cape Cod Times. <br /> Bob W. suggested having the ceremony at 9:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. Carol Sherman said <br /> that she could make the ceremony if it was at 9:00 a.m. <br /> Discussion about the ribbon and recognition took place. It was suggested to have an <br /> article in the newspaper recognizing the people that donated as well as the hotel fixed. <br /> Kathleen Moore will write up something. Trish Parolski suggested having two students <br /> from the school hold the ribbon. She suggested contacting Ann Bradshaw and have her <br /> ask the principals to assist with choosing the kids. Everyone was also in agreement to <br /> have Beverly Wooldridge test the mat. <br /> Access Issues in Public Schools <br /> Referencing the agenda item on Access Issues in the Public Schools, Catherine Laurent <br /> asked what the issues were at the schools. Bob W. explained that the problem is at the <br /> Quashnet School when someone in a wheelchair is trying to get in through the automatic <br /> doors and the doors are locked.
