Board of Possessors Meeting Page <br /> tannin Board - Minutes of Meetina of May- 4 <br /> David Bailey informed that he has not yet received requests; <br /> this is not unusual . Be explained that the comprehensive plan is <br /> a three-year project. Leslie Greig informed that the plan is for <br /> the future of Mashpee; had there been a plan eight years ago, <br /> iashpee would today be in good shape. He referenced the Economic <br /> Development Plan -- there is talk, yet noone has contacted David <br /> Bailey for his solid expertise. Mr, Bailey explained that the <br /> economic plan is in its very early stages . <br /> Vice Chairman 'DeLory was of the opinion that zoning would be <br /> of great importance in the. Planning Board' s future plans . David <br /> Bailey . was of the opinion that Planning would look to Assessing <br /> for sales information, including historical - projections are <br /> based upon history . Mr. Greig referenced iashpee ' s tax base. <br /> Mr. Bailey informed that in practice, this appears to be a <br /> problem yet, in discussions, the Planning Director does <br /> recognize the importance of diverse economic growth . <br /> Chairman porter introduced discussion on The Rotary and <br /> future motels/hotels. r-. Greig pointed out that visitors to <br /> iashpee want to access a beach - welcome signs do not offer this. <br /> Ir. Bailey pointed out Mashpee clops have a lot that people look <br /> for : fresh water - - some of the best trout fishing in New <br /> England; golf - WillowBend will cause Mashpee to have an <br /> international reputation, if marketed, like Pebble Beach in <br /> California . Lengthy discussion continued. <br /> Nor. Bailey expressed opinion the only way to develop <br /> Bopponesset is to take away a lot of expensive . houses and put in <br /> parking. Falmouth and Barnstable have so many lovely beaches for <br /> visitors , Mashpee probably will not grow. in that direction. Upon <br /> statements from Leslie Greig, Mr, Bailey agreed that Iashpee <br /> should now start promoting to obtain lucrative property to <br /> develop into recreational areas and golf courses that will <br /> increase in ' alue tremendously in the near future - thea, wealthy <br /> developers will be more likely to build motels/hotels in Mashpee. <br /> Side discussions followed. <br /> Vice Chairman DeLory expressed opinion that iashpee ' s Open <br /> Space Parcels are quite valuable. Commercial and industrial <br /> developments will not add that much to the tax base other than <br /> the feature there are no school children to educate. <br /> David Bailey expressed opinion that Mashpee must be well <br /> rounded and include all phases in. order to have a solid tax base. <br /> Inexpensive hones are necessary - these homeowners will wart to <br />
