Costa that after her May
graduation, with the probability her FY 1995 real property taxes
will have been exempted, whe will have to find a job.
Ms. Costa strongly agreed she must find a job she
needs a job desperately . . . she has nochoices ! She
explained to Board Members and to David Bailey that the RN
Program has been a difficult financial commitment. Ms . Costa
expressed opinion the RN Degree will be worth her struggle . She
will have more marketable skills and a higher earning capacity;
as a single woman, she will be able to support her own home and
her household she realizes there are not many jobs in the
local market that provide these rewarding opportunities .
Chairman Porter informed that M . Costa ' s FY 1995 real
property taxes are $948 .50 . Leslie Greig questioned how The
Board should handle this matter.
David Bailey informed Ms . Costa that, depending on The
Board ' s decision this evening-, she may not receive a real
property tax bill until December, On that bill will be a water
betterment on her property . . . with interest, about $300;
real estate taxes will be approximately $1 , 000 ; one half of this
$1 , 800 December bill will be due February 1 , 1996 . Mr. Bailey
explained to Ms . Costa that his reason for informing her of her
future tax payment obligations is to help her plan . Short
discussion followed.
Ms . Costa expressed appreciation for David Bailey ' s
information; she stated she will be prepared to start setting
aside a portion of her earnings for the upcoming tax payments .
Chairman Porter pointed out that Ms . Costa probably was
unable to set aside anything up to this point . Both he and
Leslie Greig noted from her application that she had to take a
student loan of $250 this year for college books . Chairman
Porter also noted that her monthly car expenses total only $60 .
Ms . Costa explained that she had transmission problems with a
previous car that was costing much more to operate monthly.
M . Costa also explained that, although she was financially
unable to attend this final school semester, she felt that the
few more months of deprivation and struggle would afford her
positive results .
