4 <br /> Board of Assessors Meeting 'age <br /> Discussion on Departmental Goals continued <br /> Board Members agreed all six items on the list of <br /> priorities that David Bailey compiled are important goals. <br /> Chairman Greig suggested they. be listed on the Performance Plan <br /> fora to be reviewed by the Board of Selectmen. Mr. Bailey <br /> informed that these items have been on the Board of Assessors ' <br /> agendai for quite some time. He asked Board Members if they have <br /> additional -goals that would better serge the public. <br /> Chairman Greig referred to the priority list, Item 4 , <br /> mapping . He expressed opinion Assessing should point out that <br /> the advantages of this pro 3 ect will be 'down wide and will effect <br /> many departments lona before it effects Assessing. Vice chairman <br /> Porter expressed agreement. <br /> Chairman Greig. referred to Item #5 , assessing software; <br /> he questioned the status . DavId Bailey explained that Assessing <br /> is on a list, but last by his preference because the assessing <br /> system does its job better- than any other department ' s system at <br /> the present . time. We have a vast quantity of valuable <br /> information, but it is difficult to retrieve. The next <br /> generation of software will solve this problem Assessing <br /> could have a database of its information that people will be able <br />' to extract quite easily. Lengthy side discussions followed. Mr. <br /> Bailey informed that when the Town is ready financially and with <br /> the proper data processing program and department in place, then <br /> e will be ready to have Assessing swith to a. new system. <br /> Board Members could think of no additional goals that <br /> would better serve the public . All agreed with David Bailey that <br /> the list of Assessing ' s goals should be itemized as follows : <br /> 1 . field review <br /> 2 . sharable database <br /> 3 . mapping <br /> 4 . public information ' <br /> . Internet access to assessment information <br /> . assessing software <br /> NEW/OLD BUSI <br /> School Aid <br /> Chairman Greig introduced the issue. Letter from <br /> Lincoln A. De Moura , Hd.D. , superintendent of Schools , ma shpee, <br /> dated June 5, 199 7,. is attached to These Minutes . Mr. Greig <br /> informed he has knowledge the Selectmen will attend the joint <br /> meeting of .duly 9th; he does not know if FinCom plans to at .end. <br />
