Board of Assessors Meeting Pace <br /> Update on Stephenw Ewing ' s Medical Probes continued <br /> We have had no contact from his physician; we want t <br /> arrange an examination by the 'down ' s physician . <br /> this has been impossible because we have not been able <br /> to contact Stephen Ewing* <br /> David Bailey explained to vice chairman Porter and <br /> Marcia King that the continuing details are quite complicated: <br /> Mr* Ewing asked for leave under the Family Medical <br /> Leave Act when he wrote to Marilyn Farren about two <br /> weeps ago. This medical leave is available to people <br /> with chronic ailments they are entitled to up to <br /> o days off with job security if they plan to <br /> return, they must get a physician ' s ce tification that <br /> they are likely to return and under what conditions <br /> they can return they must be offered their job <br /> back or a similar position with identical pay or <br /> better. <br /> Mr. Bailey informed this is all we heard from Steve <br /> since lois letter of August 14 to Ms . Farren. He left <br /> the situation in Marilyn ' s hands until. today when he <br /> called him to contact Nis . Farren because his health <br /> insurance runs out at the end of this month . . . if <br /> nothing else, arrangements must be made for Steve to <br /> pay his share of this insurance. <br /> Yesterday Steve seat a letter to Marilyn in this <br /> letter he asked for his retirement money to be released <br /> 0 49 . an indication that he did not plan to return to <br /> work. However, he said nothing of this letter during <br /> Mr. Bailey ' s conversation with him this morning . Nis . <br /> Farren was as perplexed as Mr. Bailey was about this <br /> entire situation! ! Stege did not call Marilyn today <br /> . David Bailey told hien it was urgent he get in <br /> touch with her. <br /> Upon questions by Board Members,, Mr. Bailey explained <br /> this retirement money is in lieu of Social. Security. if an <br /> employee leaves service, he or she is allowed to take this money <br /> the money cannot be taken o "dipped into" in financial <br /> emergencies unless the employee actually leaves service i <br /> the employee returns or takes a job where Social Security is not <br /> paid, the retirement money must be paid bate. <br /> David Bailey informed that he spoke with Marilyn Farren <br /> today she is quite perplexed. His advice to her was to <br /> give Stephen Ewing until the end of the week to submit all of his <br />
