t <br /> Board of Assessors Meeting gage 2 <br /> Mashpee Commons <br /> Chairman Greig introduced discussion concerning the <br /> newspaper article on the Mashpee Commons presentation. He <br /> informed there is talk of 500 to 1, 000 units * David Bailey <br /> expressed opinion "It would be quite something if that got <br /> approved and Reliance Development got off the ground." " <br /> Reliance Develo Tent Coy oration Mr . Bailey <br /> informed that he received a phone call from Mr. Brown ' s attorney, <br /> Mr. Brown has foreclosed on Reliance; he is now the owner of that <br /> property; the attorney did not disclose the immediate plans ; <br /> presumably he will get rid of it. Mr. Greig informed that Mr. <br /> Brown is now serving jail time about a 30 day sentence. <br /> Mr. Bailey informed that Mr . Brown is not a developer; there is <br /> quite a bit of interest in the' property a he has been receiving <br /> a large number of phone calls especially from a group of <br /> developers in Connecticut. <br /> outhPort - Chairman Greig questioned the success of <br /> Mr. Brown ' s property being developed if Southport ever takes off . <br /> David Bailey expressed opinion that if both SouthPort and Fields <br /> Point are marketed properly , there is no reason- why each property <br /> cannot have success . Upon question by Mr. Greig concerning <br /> amenities ? etc. , Mr. Bailey pointed out there will be a certain <br /> kind of marketing in order to sell 1 , 000 or so units that Cape <br /> Cod and Massachusetts has never seen before a. real national <br /> marketing that takes place in Arizona; "texas , Florida , and the <br /> like. <br /> Lengthy discussion followed concerning the many <br /> problems that would surface if both projects. went off at the same <br /> time, vice Chairman Porter made comment that the situation would <br /> e temporary, David Bailey made comment that it would be nice if <br /> Mashpee is faced with that problem. Marcia ding expressed <br /> opinion that it would be a tough problem, but she is sure that <br /> Mashpee could get through it. Chairman Greig sighed 'Lord help <br /> USWI! I <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> OverlayTransfer <br /> David Bailey submitted to the Board a letter to Dime <br /> ommelmeyr r, Town Accountant, from Leslie M,, Greig,, Chairman, <br /> Board of Assessors , requesting that the $525 , 000 in overlay funds <br /> be transferred from overlay reserve to overlay surplus .
