i <br /> i <br /> 3 <br /> CIP Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> January 6, 2004 <br /> lannin Assessin <br /> Ma ire : - $84,200 <br /> Eric Smith, Assistant Town Planner discussed the Town's GIs Planimetric <br /> Data Update Project that involves an aerial flyover. Planimetrie data <br /> consists of buildings,parking lots, driveways, hydrants, water bodies and <br /> contours, etc. which form the digital base map of the GIS system. Aerial <br /> photographs have not been taken since 1997. <br /> Important applications of the information involve users of public safety. <br /> The data is also used in hazard mitigation planning which is required by <br /> FEMA. Details outlining the Town's (Geographic Information System <br /> (GIS), and focus on Town-vide implementation are reflected in the report <br /> by the Assistant Tow.Planner released in August 2003. <br /> A love bid of$84,200 for the aerial photography was recently received. <br /> The Mashpee Cable and Advance Technology Advisory Board <br /> (MCATAB) have agreed to provide the $ 4,200 from available funds for <br /> the GIS Planimetric Data Update Project. This would provide the <br /> opportunity for the Town of Mashpee to complete the project in fiscal year <br /> Zoo . <br /> It was noted that the Water l; istet has also agreed.to attend GIS <br /> committee meetings, and it is hopeful that additional funding would be <br /> acquired to assist additional project needs such as the dissemination of <br /> information via the internet for public access to mapping, etc. <br /> It was rated that it is necessary to conduct an update every five years to <br /> maintain accurate planimetric data.. Additional staf rng may be required, <br /> The MIS Department was considered as the appropriate department to <br /> oversee this type of operation. <br /> The CIP Committee agreed to consult the Board of Selectmen with respect <br /> to this regard. <br /> i <br />
