Capital Improvement Program Committee
Minutes
December 15,2005
Fire De (continued)
New 3 rd Ambulance - $200
Due to the growth of the community and demand for EMS services, a new
Pambulance is proposed to be fended through the ambulance receipts
account. The new ambulance would go "hand in hard"With the South
Mashpee substation that was a commitment of the Board of Selectmen
seven years ago when the Fire station headquarters project was downsized.
The department intends to purchase the ambulance($150,000)and equip
($50,000), but at this time gees not have the space to house the vehicle.
Air Pack Replacement--$13 0,000:
The air pack replacement project would replace 30 sets of protective
f
breathing apparatus. Grant funds have been sought for the past two years,
but have not been attained to date for the equipment replacement. It was
noted that if the department receives grant funding, the town would be
required to find a 20-25%match.
The equipment does not meet the.current national standard for fie
department breathing apparatus.
Chief s Vehicle..- $35,000:
The vehicle replacement falls in line.with the department's vehicle
replacement plan. Presently, the vehicle has 42,000—43,000 miles. At
the time of replacement, the vehicle is anticipated to have 50,000 traveled
miles. The purchase of a new 4d utility vehicle would allow the
department to reassign the 2002 vehicle to the 'Irt: Inspector.
