Capital Improvement Prograr n Committee
Minutes
November 13, 2008
Town Clerk—AlccuVote Voting Machines:
Deborah I ami, Town Clerk was in attendance to discuss last year's
application to the CIP for AcuVote Voting Machines. Although current
lease cost assumptions for P2010 were not secured, it is estimated the
rates for each of the five voting machines is $6,000. The figure is based
on last years cost assumption of$30,000. For a three year term, the
annual payment was approximately $10,'7'75 per year. A five year lease
was estimated to cost $6,765. At the end of either term, the Ton would
have the ability to purchase the equipment for$1.00.
The life expectancy of the proposed new voting equipment is ten years
with a guarantee for service and support assistance.
Ms. Iarni explained it is imperative that new computerized ballot
machines be purchased in calendar year 2010 for the September Primary
Election. After the November 2008 General Election, Election Systems
and Software (ESS)has discontinued programming and support of the
Town's voting machines.
Ms. I ami indicated the current voting machines are operating without
incident and would be used for the upcoming local elections. If deemed
necessary, addition l_voting-machines ould be borrowed from.the Town
of Sandwich.
It was agreed that current cost assumptions would be distributed to the CIP
for continued review. To maintain present procedures, the Town Clerk
was requested to submit a new application to the CIP.for funding
consideration.
v
