Capital Improvement Program Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> November 1 , 2008 <br /> IT/GIs: (continued) . <br /> Mr. Iclvecchio discussed the need to replace a 2004 Wireless backbone <br /> with a nem Wireless Backbone with greater bandwidth to support video <br /> and voice. This function would enable the_passing of phone calls and the <br /> sharing of camera images securely beta Town buildings and School <br /> I epartinent buildings. It would also serve the Police and Fire Department <br /> vehicles. In the proposed rotation cycle, the primary wireless backbone <br /> purchased in 2006 would be used as the backup network. The requested <br /> appropriation FY201 o iS+5..LQ- OO. In FY2012, a new wireless backup is <br /> proposed to continue the intended cycle. <br /> Due to budgetary constraints, it was agreed the purchase and related.cycle <br /> program may be deferred to FY2011. <br /> In F '`2o 10, the IT Department has proposed to update the Aerial Im <br /> now three year's old and pl nimetrie data which is now six years old. The <br /> sun of $90,000 is requested to maintain the replacement cycle. <br /> The requested appropriation was denied at this time. <br /> First responder software known as Remote Access would allow the mobile <br /> user to access GIS mapping and related GPs technology to support the <br /> Police Department vehicles. The software is currently used in four fire <br /> department vehicles. The,.proposed fee i $25,000 over a three-year <br /> period. The preliminary cost in F20I0 i $6,250. <br /> The CIP Committee recommended that grant funding i tiatives be <br /> pursued for remote access. It was noted the fire department has attained <br /> grant funding for the first_response software. <br />
