1
OLD BUSINESS:
Breezy Acres Expansion/Great Cove Community Update: Mrs. Botsford gave the board ars update on the
progress that has been made. Breezy Acres project(Septic Tie in) is moving along right on schedule.
Everything should be done by the end of October. Mrs. Botsford regularly attends the construction
meetings.
Great Cove Community is right on schedule as well. All foundations have been poured and framing has
started. Substantial completion is still on track for April 2014. It was decided that instead of doing a
ground-breaking ceremony vire would do a ribbon-cutting before we open.
So that vire can manage the property, Mrs. Botsford is required to take a refresher course for Fair Housing
before the property opens. Spectrum offers them, but there is not one being offered locally before the
project opens. Mrs. Botsford will continue to look for other training sessions available.
Torn land available futureplans: Mrs. Botsford had forwarded board members Susan Connelly's email
from MHP. She wasn"t very encouraging about our plan to purchase/rehab units. Since then, Mrs.
Botsford stated that she has been encouraged by Joyce Mason to do a presentation to the Selectmen in
order to get their blessing/permission to request a feasibility study on the Falmouth Road Property. Torn
F dala provided-some information ox the property(which is actually rade,up of 3 towp-owned parcels)
which Mrs. Botsford has forwarded to Susan for her input.
Since the trend seers to be that housing authorities are creating non-profits to do work, Mrs. Botsford
decided to look into the status of the Mashpee Affordable Housing Trust, the authority's non-profit that
was semi-active about 8 years ago. The M HT was never officially dissolved so it can be used. Annual
reports Form PCs) would need to be filed for 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 and a fee paid in order to get
everything up-to-date. The board discussed the pros and cons of reactivating the non-profit, forming a
new board, and what the non-profit could do. A notion was made by Ms. Allen and seconded by i
Mfr, Shackett to authorize $2,000.00 from our Ash is Path savings account to be transferred
to an account for the Mfashpee Affordable Housing Trust, and that Mfrs. Botsford file the
required reports and pally the fees to get everything up to date. The motion was adopted.
On the subject of future plans, Mrs. Botsford advised the board that both Wareham and Brewster Housing
Authorities had advertised for either an Executive Director or a Management Company last month. She
spoke with the chairperson and a letter was sent to both expressing our interest in being considered t
manage the authorities (copies of both were provided to all board members). Mrs. Botsford beard from
Wareham Housing Authority yesterday and has an interview scheduled for Wednesday, September 18.
She has heard that a lot of people/housing authorities have applied for both positions, so nothing may
come of it but it is worth applying. The board discussed at length the benefits of being able to expand in
this way and all agreed that increasing staff/time would be necessary if we are selected to manage one
or both of therm. Mrs. Botsford will keep everyone posted.
NEIN BUSINESS:
Breezy Acres Septic Tie-in Change order #1 and Change order 2: Mrs. Botsford provided members
with information on two change orders that needed to be done for the Septic Tie In project. Board vote
is needed before they can be seat for approval to DH D. After review and some discussion, a motion
was made by Ms. Allen and seconded by Mfr, Shackett to approve both change orders and
submit to DHCD for final approval. The motion was adopted.
Bank Account openings: Mrs. Botsford informed the board that, as directed, she deposited the ,000.00
land lease payment from Great Cove Communities into a bank account. It is a money market account at
.1010. The bank needs signature cards signed for this account. Additionally, since no vote was ever
formally taken, Mrs. Botsford is requesting a vote to affirm the fact that the board approved the opening
of this account, the Housing Assistance Program Checking revolving checking account and the sher's
Page 3 of
