i
Community Preservation Committee
Minutes -
June 13,Zoo
Mills FarniN Lands-- $727,000:
Discussion followed regarding the acquisition of the open space property
located in an area of Town conservation land and the Sarruit fond. The
proposal is consistent with the use of CIA funds for the preservation o
open space at a cost of approximately $45,000 per acre.
The majority of the Cottee considered the property to the highest
regard in the interest of conservation and to protect the quality of drinking
water supply by preserving lands within a wellhead protection zone.
State reimbursement grants to assist with the funding of the project
proposal were given high consideration although finding limitations for
other CPA protect applications were also considered.
Issues to be addressed include the matter of the lard exchange of a portion
of the Mills family land for Town non-conservation properties to assemble
meaningful parcels for both parties. The matter was deemed an issue to be
brought before the Board of Selectmen.- The exchange details a swap for
five parcels owned by the Town, a total of o.5 acres for approximately
0.51 aures of Mills family lands. other issues Include the need for an
appraisal and to further review the matter of paper roads and related
access.
In the application, the Mills family has agreed to extend the closing slate
no later than June 30,2007 in order for the Town to qualify for potential
grant funding.
