Mr. Lopez asked Teh t about between Big Thatch
and Little Thatch. Mrs,* Debory said that that's mostly Audubon Society. Mrs
Lopez said that what is beach land now, used to be water . he used to drag
scallops outside of Big Thatch. Mrs, BeBory said that when some gentlemen
from BE E, a biologist, geologist and a sanitation engineer for shehing
were down about a month ago,, and she and Mr. Buckingham went with there out on
the Spit with Tire Hennigan,, they had maps dating back to 1949 showing the difoo
ference in the area and where it was open., Popponesset Beach went itay down t
Barnstable terri t rw . She aadd d that she has also notified Mrs, Wilson and
the Barnstable Conservation Commission.
Mrs. Sloane said that it seems to her that the Fields Point land., the first
part of the S pit, was under litigation for a long time. Mr. Hicks said. that the
abutters had litigation between there and Fields Point. He said he thinks part
f the settlement was that Fields Point reclaimed some land and filled it in and
left some kind of a deal between them. Mrs. Sloane said that she thinks we
should make sure that it's not stip under litigation.
Mrs. Be Lory said that what we had p .ann e d to d .was have a continuance on
this approximately two months from now, but inasmuch as the Notice of Intent
had been filed., we had to have the hearing, adding that the contract for the
impact study was just awarded. Mrs, Sloane said that the beach will have to be
open to the public - that will be written into our Order of Conditions.
Mrs. Landry asked how people will get out on to it and Mrs. Sloane said that
there has to be public access. Mrs. Landry said that ;there is no way we should-
tet vehicles out there. Mr. Dias said that in that particular area, there is
room f or only four oars and that was done by the State Division of Fisheries.
Mrs. Landry said that that's basic y because we have lost so much of it a- ap-m
parently the idea was to save that piece of property so it could be used. They
asked the state to try to do something - we lose another 10 or 151 each year
there won tt be an access spot. It Vas stated that one of the Selectmen thought
maybe we could get a price and dump boulders there.
I
Mr. Bias said that they dumped a kinds of trees in there and it washed
away. Apparently the stumps and staff that was put in there to save it wasn't
on the state property.
Mrs. BeLory said that we will have a continuance on this so we can get more
information on landowners. A motion was made and seconded to have the hearing
on the second Wednesday in April the 11th, unanimously approved.
