•
Monday night at which time she asked Mr. Buckingham to attend - he did so,
only to have thea postpone it for two weeks so that Rory could have an attor-
ney present. This -hearing is only for his suspension by the Selectmen for
the dog shooting incident -- It has nothing to do with the way he has per-
formed as Conservation Officer. She added that she would like' have some-
one appear and Mr. Buckingham has said he will appear. She aided that if
anyone else wants to go, they can.
Mrs. Studley continued by say*ng that the Personnel Board is only tak-
ing up the question of whether 'or not he should have been suspended for the
dog shooting, aiding that the Conservation Commission is still his direct
supervisor. She said that the Commission has never been informed that the
Board of Selectmen took over the job of supervising him,
Mrs. Sloane said that she had gotten Marcel Kistin and the Houstons to-
gether.
o-geth . She said that her other assignment was the Mendelson matter, men-
tioning
ere-ti ning that at first Harold Collins couldn't het in because of the snow and
then it snowed again and apparently Collins has had trouble with him before.
If it doesn't snow again, perhaps it can be taken of.
Mr. Buckingham said he asked Harold Collins to discuss with the Plan-
nIng Board the advisability and probability of going along with the Board of
Health in 'asking for' a Town warrant Article in asking; for a well field for
water system for the Tarn of Mashpee 'n the Whitcomb damp. Mrs. Studley
said that that's the Torn Forest and you can't do anything up there. She
asked if Mr. Buckingham would make the article out and he said that he hasn't
heard from Collins yet. The initial feedback From the Planning Board was that
they would consider it. Mrs. Sloane mentioned that it was too late for an
article to be submitted.
Mrs. Studley asked how you can take a conservation area and put a water
field them. Mr. .Buckinghan, said that it is Town Forest and can be used for
any town business - thea we can look f'or money f or a survey of it, adding
that in the first place this is probably the only area within the town that
we can use as a well field because the- anticipation of public water supply
being supplied to South Ma hpee comes from high wood water .
Mrs. Stud.ley asked why heeras not seeking a well field out here at Moody's,
which is one of the highest water -- least populated areas. Mr. Buckingham said
that you must own a circle of 400t - probably don't awn that much in that area.
Mrs. Studley asked if he had been to the assessors on this and he said that he
will, but he granted to get the n1anning Board in on it. Mrs. Studley mentioned
that well #23 is over by Moody's.
Mrs. DeLory said that a few years back, they were going to use this for
the well field for the whole town, that they vivre going; to buy it from Eleanor
Harding - some-one else said "no". The. drmi-na ;e from the dumoage of shells and
what have you is buried up beyond there, adding that there may be technical
questions before you went in. 1 rs. Studley said that the state explored put--
ting a well field on lana owned by Mrs. Harding - in the vicinity of Moody'
Pond - abutting the Sandwich line and Otis base.
Mr. Buckingham said that, according to the USGS., it is a good possibility
and, 'according to Philip Holmes, the possible effect of drainage from the Otis
runways is nil. It's a drain point -- the area from the South Cape Beach up t
Pine Tree can be supplied by high wood water. He added that he is just talk-
ing about physical capabilities. If we do have to use a water system, the
area we would have to use it in would be the John's Pond, perimeter over toward
130 and through that general area. if your well field is up them, you 'have
less distance for piping.
