Thereby, constructing the wall would be cutting
off the nourishment. Bob DeLory commented that there was all sand
there. Chairperson Studley said that they also propose to fill it
with sand. Jean commented that the peat pant of it had gore bats .
Chairperson Studley said surprisingly enough there is still some
nourishment there and that the beach grass would start to grow back.
Pauline DeLory said that with the walkway over the wall and filled
in area, she had planned to start replanting it. ,dean Thomas asked
if there was anything to prevent the planting of the marsh grass.
Chairperson Studley said that slue could just put it in and it would
grow,
Chairperson Studley said that there wasn't a quorum and that they
couldn' t officially act on it but for her own information had to
ask the question as to whether or not they would consider placing
ust the walkway at the present time and try to rebuild it with some
natural vegetation without going to the expense of putting the bulk-
head in.
Bob Ike Lory commented- that since he owned the land 5 feet has washed
away and -according o the neighbors, 12 feet has gone. He said haat
there is only 3h feet of water there. Pauline DeLory said that there
was no tidal action causing it,
Chairperson Studley said that there were several things that rade her
ask the question: 1. Both of the proponents have admitted that the
. plan is not accurate as it does not show the marsh accurately. She
said that if it was not accurate, the Commission should not have to
act on the entire thing either. She said she was asking if they would
be agreeable to the Commission issuing an order saying that they could
put in the walkway and extend it so that it' can start at the top of
the bank and in addition add the condition that the area be replanted
as part of an experimental project on either side of the walkway.
a Bob OeLory said that in order to plant it, he would have to f1ll it.
Chairperson Studley said that she did not think they would have to fill
it -- just make holes and put the beach grass in. She said that she
thought they would be facing a complete denial by the State because they
mould not consider the structure or a temporary solution to use the walk-
way to put the boat in if that is the intent. Bob DeLory replied "yes".
He said that it would be a walkway to a float, Chairperson Studley
said that they could have that now with the expectation that they would
try to replant the area. Chairperson Studley asked how the other mem-
bers of the Commission Felt
Jean Thomas said that she would feel very comfortable if they would do
their dock (meaning walkway and try to do some planting.
