# S+•pee c i . ommi s s ion
miinutes of NVay 9. 1984 Page 11
Discussion on Maushop. Violation, cont.
Charles Buckingham asked•Jean Thomas what she thought he had missed in
skimmingthrough the minutes? Jean replied that she did not know he
had the minutes.
aul ne DeLory referred to the timbers to stop people from going down
to access the beach, She asked if Feggy Collin' s people put them up
or Rock Landing? ms. Collins said that they did at one time a long
time ago. Mrs. DeLory said that she did not remember seeing thea. Charles
Buckingham said that they have been there for years.
Mr. Buckingham said that the only thing he thought he failed to address
because he chid not know if it was part of this action was the statement
that junk and parts of buildings were actively being put over the edge.
3e said that in looking at the pictures and looking at what he has seen
down there the stock piling which has taken place between the buildings
that are be moved and some of the things that are being seem in the
photographs, he believes he saw long acro. He said that it was subsequently
covered and now being uncovered by the erosion taking place in spots where
erosion had not taken place in a lona while. fie ,indicated that from the
stairway down, the damage took. dace during the storm of march 29 (but that
he was not in town at the time) .
Vice- Chairperson DeLory indicated that the Chairperson did an on-site in-
spection the other day after the complaint and had taken pictures. Ms.Collins
said that the Chairperson stated the other day that she did not see any of
the stuff even though she believed it to be there. Ms. Collins said that
. she could go through the Cease and Desist and tell the commission where i
is inacurate, but she thought for all those people involved that they could
go out to the site and ask questions. Charles Buckingham as!.-..ed what dates
she was suggesting for the on-site. FIs. Collins said that as soon as It is
convenient for the Commission. She said she was available on Thursday,
Friday and Sunday or any time next week, The Commission' s order is due on
the 12th, so Ms. Collins asked for a stay in the written execution of that
order so that the corporation is not liable because they are waiting for an
on-site,
Pauline DeLory asked if any members of the Board would be available. Jean
Thomas indicated that she would not be available, Wayne Tavares said that
-he could see it personally but not with the group, Pauline DeLory said that
she had- ben out there already,
Wayne Tavares asked why the shells were carried to the last 50 foot area ;
Ms. Collins said that herimpression of the order said that the access had
to be such that it could hold the trucks coring down in order to stabilize ;
the erosion. They chose to carry the shells down because it was a contin-
uous thing and the shells do not go onto the beach. They fall short of
the beach bark--dune lime. Wayne said that the top of the slope becomes
mes
eery ambiguous at that point. Ms. Collins said that the access has always
been maintained. she said that if they did not carry the shells down they
would have had to put some other material to stabilize it. She said it
was a matter of ghat could stand up to the concerns, which is the weight
of the trucks plus the run-off.
l Mrs,, DeLory said that in her opinion riot being a landscaper where the
shells are porous, it stops some of the run--off. Wayne said it was a good
solution. Charlie Buckingham said that he was sitting there wondering why
i
if
