Mashpee Conservation Commission Page Two
Meeting of June 2 , 1984
the marsh grass area; the piles to be treated with non-
bituminous material* and the pier deck will have adequate
spacing to allow water and light to filterthrough to the
marsh.
On the coastal bank, there will be no alteration in existing
grades ,
The step construction on the bark will be done by hand as will
the supporting sono-tube foundation at the top of the bank and
at the piling support at the toe of the bank. On the bank,
1 x ' treated posts will be used. The postholes will be dug
by hand and placed by hand. Any scarification of the existing
terrain shall be remedied by returning it to its original state
and would be stabilized with seasoned gravel. Bordering land
subject to flooding is not a matter of question as there will be
no impact whatsoever because there will be no alteration to the
existing terrain except to place these posts . Mr. Buckingham
asked how the posts were to be driven, Mr. Warwick replied
that they would be driven by barge from the seaward sides. After
questioning by March Dardano, Mr. Warwick reiterated his earlier
statement that the lard involved is under a salt marsh and not
under a salt pond. Ms . Dardano asked about the possibility of
restricting the work to the non-growing season ie. November
through April.. Mr. Warwick replied that he couldn' t answer that
because once this matter is approved, his client grants to start
construction immediately. Mr. Warwick said that for some reason
Chapter 91 license or permit is not required by the Division of
Waterways . He stated that he had submitted it to that Division;
but they had indicated that a license is not required . He also
said that the matter has been submitted to the Corps of Engineers *
It would appear that a Corps license will be necessary, As soon
as that is received, construction will begin.
Further, Mr. Warwick stated that a. site visitation would show that
the bank in question has not grown up very much as the house has
just been built. There is growth at the top of the bank; however
that does not even..- enter into this notice because they do not in-
tend to do anything on the top of the bank. The bark itself is
vegetated and well-stabilized; but and according to Mr, Warwick,
this should present no problem constructing these steps , By the
ti
