conservation commission
Meeting of September 17 , 1987
Page 4 .
John 's Comments continued) Haybales proposed should be moved
to the edge of the clearing, not the edge of the wetland.
Dredging of Aims Pond could be allowed if specific access points
are proposed with mitigating measures for loading and unloading.
A restoration plan for the access areas should also be conditioned.
Ms Dehrman pointed out that structures- proposed on the plan coming
within the resource area would have to be the subject of individ-
ual
ndivid-
ua Notices of Intent.
Mr. Grasseti advised there is 439 square feet of fill proposed
and to replicate 784 square feet under the direction of a botanist.
Another crosshatch which is 1,270 square feet and to replicate
1 ,312 square feet, the only two areas to touch the wetland, He
stated if the dredging is out of line and they can be shown why,
they would back off. They feel it will be a benefit.
Mrs. Jacobson questioned the size of the pond and was advised it
is approximately 6.2 acres, The other pond is mostly in Barn-
stable.
Mr. Rosenberg stated the Commission will have to wait until
location and approval of these roads by the Planning Board.
Ms Dehrman advised she has a letter in hand received from ars
abutter, Robert Frazier, addressing issues on the development,
She stated in her judgement it mostly deals with Planning Board
issues and read the paragraph to do with Commission issues . The
letter was circulated. The discussion was opened to the public.
Franc Nunes r. , abutter: If lawns are put in, fertilizer will
be used which is very contagious and wi l l go into the ponds and
ill fish as proved at some cranberry bogs, He also stated to
i put 172 units on 72 acres means less than /2 more per . unit.
Gordon Greene, Rte. 130: The torn should hire someone to do
the tests, His concern is the composition of the dredging
spoils taken out.
i
Dr. Teal stated they took samples but the analysis was done
by an EPA certified lab in Lakeville. This can be part of the
record.
Mr. Gsseti stated he understood that suggestions could be made
that samples were taken from another pond.
Mr. Greene questioned the nearness of the sewage treatment plant
to a bog which is wetland marsh now.
Dr. Teal stated DE regulations have to be met. There are state
and local regulations also. Mr. Greene asked if this could only
be passed with this type of septic system, Dr.. Teal stated this
Is. one of the more advanced systems and -the state does not require
this advanced a system. It was his recommendation and Peters
Hartel are pursuing this on their own.
