Conservation Commission
Meeting of April 2 1 , 1988
Page 4..
Ms Behrman requested abutters receipts. Mr. Letito stated the owner notified
the abutters but he did not have the receipts.
Nis. Ferriday stated the lot was not staked. Mr. Letito stated it is indicated
on the plan that it will be 26.5 off the property line.
Ms Behrman stated we do require some indication where the project is as in the
instructions.
I
Mrs. Ferriday stated the Commission has some suggestions and before it is re-
advertised, the plans could be changed.
I
i
Ms Behrman stated the topo stops and there is no further information; the im-
plication is that from the 45 Foot contour, this lot is flat all the way back.
. Letito stated it is not, she continued, there appears to be a gullying
situation with a depression. It is suggested that you move the boardwalk back
approximately 10-I2 feet, if the guess is correct as to where the steps are
ending.
. Letito stated, to minimize the amount of material put on this bank, it is
going to maximize the amount of vegetative growth and the top of the bank
being as critical as any other part, if we add an extension we are going to
minimize vegetative growth. Mr. Burns stated there is nothing there now.
Mr, Let i-to stated there is a sod there that has been broken down by machinery.
Nor. Burns pointed out that the bank is undercut in an area.
Ms Behrman requested abutters notices, better topography and the lot to be staked.
If there is a revegetation plan for the bank, it could be presented at the sane
time.
I
The previous order of conditions was reviewed.
Jonathan BuErtis , who will be doing the construction, stated at one time the
stairs were designed on the higher elevation* Because of the cliff overhang,
i it was decided to put thea at a lower spot. He did not see any problem bring-
ing another deck back there 10-12 feet. The down part will be rem ve ble and
can be slid up onto the stairs. They will try to work from the top down and
i
the posts will be hand dug..
Nis Behrman stated she would announce a continuation of the hearing tonight.
If however, the notices indicate that abutters did not get notification until
after tonight, it will be necessary to readvertise the hearing. Mr, Letito
agreed.
It was suggested Rosa Rugosa be planted at the lip where undercutting has
occurred.
Mr. Coffey asked how the removeable section was to be anchored. Mr. Burtis
stated it may be sitting on a wood pad and removable bolts used. The posts
will not be in the ground.
Ms Behrman asked for a note to that effect.
Nor. Letito reviewed the issues: i agram of the wooden pad described by
Nor. Burti s* 10-12 foot extension at the top of the bank; staked at the top,
two at the longest point and two stakes where it breaks to go down the hill ;
vegetation schedule for the top of the bank; topography.
