conservation L m i i n
March 23 , 1989
Page 6 -
Mr . Coffey asked if it is valuable enough to her and Stratford Ponds
to go through the entire proceedings knowing the Com misison has
questions about whether it is doable without impact .
Mrs . Farinon stated she would have to re-evaluate after tonight . If
she goes back to Edgerton Development and states it will be tied up
for another couple of months , they will prefer to put it back where
it was .
Mr . Ronbg stated they had a plan with no equipment going off the
paved road and now the substitute plan which calls for that equip.
meat going a great distance over unpaved areas which seems to in-
evitably cause a lot more damage .
Mrs . Farinon stated there will be an adverse impact for a short period
of time by bringing the equipment down the bog road . It should not
take more than one day .
Ms Behrman stated the backhoe will not only cause damage to the road
by it ' s weight but the adjoining vegetation will be impacted .
Nor . Rosenberg asked , if taking out --4 ,000 cu .. ft . , how marry truck
loads will that be
It was noted with a sic wheeler it would be 50 trucks in there .
Question was raised from the audience if the ancient way . was at the
edge of th-e proposed site and it was stated it is .
Also , if talking about using a crane , it is almost 120 feet from the
road . He asked what size crane would be used .
Mrs , Farinon stated replication cannot be done without causing some
adverse effect .
Ms Behrman stated , if this is what is wanted , the commission would
need a new Notice of Intent to properly consider the application .
Mrs . Farinon stated they are trying to save a sensitive area . If
the Commission feels strongly about it , she would like to take those
concerns back to Edgerton and they will most likely want to withdraw
the application .
Mr . Rosenberg stated in order to make a decision on this he would
want a complete exposition of how each of the alternatives would be
accomplished and an exposition of the probable effects on the environ-
ment
nvir n-vent of each of thea in order to weigh the relative adverse impacts
Mr . Coffey asked if the wetland replication schedule was drawn up for
this one or is it standard and was told it was standard . He asked if
they were going to submit add i t i ori a l information i f they could make
it site specific . Mrs . Fannon agreed .
member of the audience pointed out there are a lot of Beech trees
10 inches in diameter or bigger in the roved area . Also , in the
area approved now is a nesting site for; a pair of broad tailed hawks .
Mrs . Farinon stated if' Edgerton wants her to stop proceeding with the
alternative method she still would like to come back to the Commission
