Conservation commission <br /> June 1 , 1989 <br /> Page 4 . <br /> Mr , Jacobson stated it was not necessary to cut blueberry bushes that <br /> were at a four year height . They do not need a machine . <br /> Mrs . Simmons pointed out that the Town is mandated to keep that property <br /> in a way that the public Inas access . <br /> Mr , Jacobson stated he does not think they would make - the Town bring a <br /> Gravely in there . <br /> Mrs , Simmons stated they want to be able to do it without causing <br /> liability to the town , with some paths . <br /> M . Jacobson stated you cannot make safe paths , they ' re all up and <br /> down ; you would have to get a bulldozer 1n there . <br /> 'Mrs . Simmons stated they do not intend to do that . She thanked <br /> Mr . Jacobson for his concerns . <br /> Mrs . Pierce , who worked on the trail , stated she has been teaching <br /> environmental science for over three decades and has great concern <br /> for the wood 1 ands . <br /> Mr ., Jacobson left pictures with the commission of the lady slippers <br /> that were in the trail that was stopped . <br /> Mrs . Ferragammo stated the gravely is only used perhaps first and <br /> second years that the trail is opened . She requested to be present <br /> her the plan is reviewed . <br /> Mrs . Simons stated the Commission has no reservations that procedures <br /> were followed . <br /> Bill Bryant stated the Gravely is not set to cut when they clear and <br /> does not tear up humus . <br /> Mr . Jacobson stated one of his pictures shows where it tore up about <br /> 10 feet of humus . <br /> Mr . Coffey stated the issue is not whether some damage is done when a <br /> trail is rude , that is a given , the issue to be addressed is whether <br /> it 1s an impact on the environment . <br /> Mr . Marrsters stated the committee deserves a lot of credit for assembling <br /> it , maintaining it and improving it . They would like to see trails in the <br /> land they are donating . He understands Mr, Burns ' s concern about the <br /> 100 feet but hopes some trails will be allowed in areas to allowacres <br /> to the beautiful view . <br /> Mrs . Simmons stated the Commission will look into it and will contact <br /> Mrs . Ferrrragammo when the paperwork is reviewed . <br /> Mr . Coffey suggested any members of the public who would like to be <br /> advised of the results leave their nares with the secretary . <br /> Mr . Sherman started if he had been asked for an opinion if this was a <br /> formal request for an RDA , it would have been a negative determination . <br />
