conservation commission
June 29, 1989
Page 4.
Mr. Cameron stated what is there was on the ground when they did the field
survey in December.
Nis Behrman asked if the elongature of the pier was included? Mr. Cameron stated
no,, the length of this pier is as shown. It was obviously built longer by
Mr. Allicandro.
Mr. Sherman advised he spoke with Mr. Gainsboro by phone and was told the changes
in the dock system were an interim solution and that it was his recollection he
had an oral agreement with the Commission that this would be okay. He indicated
to Mr. Gainsboro that this was not normal procedure.
Ms Dehrman asked if it was Mr. Gainsboro was the one, not the previous owner, who
did the changes. Mr. Sherman stated this was correct. She expressed concern
with acting on this with the discrepancy in the Board of Appeal permit.
. Cameroon stated the Board of Appeal special permit addresses plans for a 6 X 20
float to b . constructed and maintained. He can verify that.
Mrs. Marsters pointed out the first paragraph does state for a pier, etc.
Mrs.. Simmons asked if the Commission wanted a plan on file as it sits on the ground
right now with the enlarged pier; the one to be taken out?
Mr. Cameron agreed to draw on there the as constructed existing pier, gangway,
floats.
Mr. Burns reminded him to move that over; do not take any trees down. Mr. Cameron
agreed to rote that on the plan.
To DE CLOSED UPON RECEIPT of PLAINS.
8:15 John Donovan to construct and maintain a single family residence, drive,
on-site sanitary facility and stone retaining wail at Lot 8 okway Day Road.
Mention was made that the Board of Health permits have expired and Mr. Donovan
stated Elias McQuaid was to have contacted the Commission. The plan dated
5118/89 was reviewed.
Mrs. Simmons asked if this was discussed with DFQF. Mr. Donovan stated they had
no comments and he had not received anything in writing From DEQE. Peter Cook
who will be constructing the wall was introduced.
Mrs. Simmons asked if there is any way to sage any of the trees and was told they
will attempt to sere all the trees in the wall area itself. She thought they will
have to take down dozens of trees. Mr. Cook stated they will be able to build
around some of the trees.
Mfr. Coffey asked if the point of putting it in is because they do not want to follow
the existing slope? M . Donovan stated they can't, it's too steep. Mr. Coffey asked
if they explored a vertical retaining wall instead of armoring the whole bank?
Mr. Rosenberg stated that is a vegetated slope and questioned the need for killing
all that vegetation with 215 yards of fill to put the revetment in.
Ms Behrman asked the horizontal distance between the house and top of the wall ,
She stated that's 39 feet on one side and on the bays i de, the 215 yards of fill
is to give a 35 foot lawn. She suggested a smaller retaining wall up closer to
the house.
