Conservation Commission
October 5. 1989
Page 5.
Mrs. Simmons pointed out the walkway to the south was not on the original notice,
there was some change in the retaining wall and grading.
Nor, Palmatier advised they propose an additional level of landscaping timbers,
seal between them with Silicone and depress the pagers so runoff will b
channeled to the existing drywell . They will put in another drain which
will be tied into the existing d rywe l l , to collect any runoff into the walkway.
The stairway was constructed to provide dedicated access to the back of the
house and the shared dock, On the other side of the house, because of the
steepness of the slope, the use of the retaining galls lessens the slope and
reduces the velocity of the runoff.
Mrs. Simmons asked if the settling of the retaining lls had been corrected?
Both Mr. Palmatier and Mr, Gutman stated they were unaware of the problem.
Mrs. Simmons suggested this be looked into,
Mr. Sherman advised drainage has been addressed.
Mrs. Simmons stated, concerning the landscaping on both sides, ff oats should
e rude to ensure that it maintains itself to absorb runoff that gets by the
drains.
CLOSED - ORDER OF CONDITIONS I 1 DAYS.
Mr. Gutman asked what will happen to the existing open Order of Conditions.
Ms Behrman advised a partial Certificate of Compliance can be issued subject to
compliance with future orders of Conditions. As the chain link fence was added
at the request of the Building Inspector, she felt he should advise people that
prior to putting structures i n, they thou l d come to the Commission.'
8: 15 JOHN S, KELLEY for the removal of construction debris, garden area and
construction of railroad tie walkway and retention wall at 174 Captain'sRow,
Mr, Kelley presented abutter receipts. The plan was reviewed.
Ms Behan stated the distance between the retaining wall should be on the plan
and asked where the edge of the marsh was located, Mr. Kelley did not know the
precise distance, it is approximately 35 ft. . The edge the marsh goes in
approximately 2 feet from the edge of the river; there is 2 ft. of eel grass.
Ms Behrman was concerned with this not being on the plan.
Mrs, Simmons questioned. topo. Mr, Kelley advised the coastal bank is approximately
LJ°.
Mr. Coffey asked ed i f the Commission would consider photographic evidence?
1r+ Sherman advised he has pictures.
Mrs. Simmons asked the height of the retaining wall and was told it will be
2- 6 X 8' s, about 1 foot high.
