i Conservation Commission December 28, 1989 Page 2. Mr. Coffey asked if the ramp began in marsh grass and was told it is just grass, not marsh grass. . Sherman suggested extending the stairs right to the stone steps. Mr. Thorng stated he had thought of that also. Mr. Coffey asked if continued, would it ex- ceed the length by law. r. Thorng stated the length is from Mean High Water which he took as the edge of the marsh. It was noted, duo to the ice, the edge of the salt marsh was not staked. . Th orng stated he had no problem with tying it in to that, nor would his client. He would have to put another post in. Ms Behrman suggested a stepdown to the foreshore to avoid erosion problems. Mr. Coffey felt the size of the fixed pier to be inappropriate with a lot of ramp. Mr. Thor•ng suggested it be downsized by 5 feet. Mr. Coffey stated he would be willing to horsetrade downsizing the proposed 5 ft. for not extending the walkway. Ms Deh r man felt more Concerned with the erosion around the walkway. Mr. Thor rig agreed to clear these items with h i s client. HEARING CLOSED - ORDER OF CONDITIONS IN 21 DAYS WITH THE ASSUMPTION THAT THE STEPS, FIXED RAIL AND DOWNSIZE BE CONDITIONED. George Thorng of Arrow Engineering advised the proposed dock is exactly like the Ideon dock just reviewed. Construction will be of pressure treated wood. Existing stairway is tied i roto the proposed fixed stairway, elevation ft. above the marsh,, extending out from Mean High Water 65 ft. approximately. Total length of the structure is 90 ft. , the Tee is 30 ft. and it would be acceptable to downsize to 25 ft. with the railing on the end of the fixed pier. The Board of Appeals has approved the plan. . Sherman stated he4 had no problem with this. Mr, Somerville stated this is the same idea as neon and he would want outside docking. 1r. Coffey asked if there is any navigational impact, the river narrows in that location. Mr. Sherman stated if a Chapter 91 filing would be required, that would be their bailiwick.
