The Chairman said he had a few items to disclose from the Board of Selectmen. There was an article regarding a ban on feeding waterfowl at the local level, which was defeated, he said he was looking at the ban on a state level. He added that the Board was looking for signage regulations refening to the state ban. The second item The Chainnan referred to was Mashpee River dredging. He said that the Board had-a-couple of items coming-up-at the-end of June-regarding core sample testing of the River. The Town planner said that the transfer station was seen as a possibility for waste dredging. Mr.Theis asked if side casting was still on the table. The Chainnan said it was still on the table, and so agreed the Mice Chair, that everything was still on the table, The Chahman said the Board was trying to explore all the possibilities, and one way or another would get to a decision. The end of,lune is a critical point for decision- makingp the other one was by Labor Day. He added that there would be modeling to help detennine if side easting was gable, He said that there was various alternatives to what the actual impact would be, and the point of decision would be shortly after Faber Day. He added that one of the things needed in dredging the river and taking the spoils out, studies have shown that there would be more degradation in the river by removing it than to find ways of d.isp o sing it within the perimeters of the river. He mentioned side casting and marsh building. He added that in side casting, the basic worry was that:the rnateri.al m the river was so silty and fine that it would float right back in rather rapidly. He said it would be"more bang for the buck'by sheet piling. He said that the Department of Environmental protection was having a look at it. Ms. Kane asked who was paying for the waterway spouts. The Chairman said that the situation with the River had been languishing for a long time period, and that the Board needed to come up with a decision. He added it was going to cosh Ms. Gurney said that the longer it was delayed, the more it was going to cost, she added that you've lost it in any way Haat you have looked at it. The Chairman said he thought the Board had a good time schedule, aggressive. The other thing that was moving forward, he said, was the EDIC. He said that the Board had encouraged letters of interest and hadn't gotten all of the areas still set.
