stated a 14 foot width makes sense.
Mr. Sherman advised he went to the site for a Certificate of
Compliance inspection and found grading on the northeast
corner was unstable and grades cannot be changed without a
filing. If the grade brought in tonight is the final grade
and stabilizing is done with jute netting, the driveway is
not a concern, He would inspect the grade change before
planting and after. This was agreed.
Mr. Johansen questioned the bulkhead mentioned and Was told
it was not put in.
Mr. Green asked what is planned for plantings? Ms
Fitzgibbons advised they will use bearberry which is low to
the ground and adheres well to sand.
Mr. Desrosiers stated the area under the deck would need wood
chips or stones to prevent erosion. Nor. Kirrane agreed this
could be in luded in the order of Conditions.
Ms Fitzgibbons stated this will be dug by hand; there will be
no machinery behind the deck.
Mr. Green stated wood chips would not be good on the hill and
the Agent agreed it should be stone.
PUBLIC COMMENTS: Robert Nelson, an abutter stated he is
concerned about the grade on the side, He asked if they are
going to grade the 5 foot "cliff" towards the chimney? He
stated it is a 5-1/2 foot pitch away from the water and asked
why they cannot put grass in there?
Mr. Sherman stated it is a natter of nutrient loading.
Mr. Nelson stated sand will be going down to the street and
into the catch basins which have to be maintained.
Paul Fraser stated there is no intent to have their
association restrictions butt heads with the Commission. He
would like to have an understanding for future projects.
They would like a buffer~ to prevent the streets and catch
basins from filling up. Theme is an area in front of the
house considered association property and they would like to
request that on this and future projects that the edge of the
road be restored.
Mr. Sherman stated it has nothing to do with where water is
going to end up, but ground water ends up in Waquoit Bay. it
is understandable for them to want a buffer, but most of this
lot is in the Commission's jurisdiction. A thin strip of
grass could be considered but that would have to be in some
other form than the hearing tonight.
VOTE: Motion made and seconded to accept the amendment with
the conditions put forth by the Agent that haybales be
maintained; inspection of the grade and planting
density; gravel or stone under the deck; and work to be
done by hand.
