Hanks asked if they were going to create any kind of a born. Mr.Ellis said they couldn't. It was not in
their permit to do that.
Mr.Ellis said he has been talking with Mr. heninan and Ms. Boretos and he wants to try to get a
confirmed disposal site or at least have them consider a confirmed disposal site of the three-acre hollow in
the Mashpee liver woodlands, Mr. Sherman still says it will need to be presented. Mr.Ellis told hire that
it is hard to present and hire people to do this work when we have no idea if they are even going to consider
giving us the land, Mr. Sherman said that we could hire an engineer by the hour to look at some things to
mare a presentation. Mr. Sherman wants the presentation made by a professional. Mr. Hanks stated that
we are not going to make a professional engineered presentation to him at the outset. Mr.Ellis said he did
not think we could sell Ns to the Conservation Cornission ourselves. Mr. Hanks said we have the
paperwork halfway done to make the presentation. After we make that presentation,he would consider
hiring an engineer. Mr.Ellis suggested that we ask the selectmen to spend up to$500 to hire a
professional to help us with our presentation to the Board.
Mr.Ellis said everything else is quiet. He has two buoys off station. Gine of these days we are going
to have to go out and put them back on station. He is putting a new seal on the lower unit on the 75
horsepower Honda. It had a little water in it. Other than that, they are still manning great. He said they
are looking to purchase a new 70 horse. Funds are already put aside. Mr.Ellis said there are a few little
glitches of people saying they didn't get their mooring bills. The mooring gaiting list is in place. Right
now he is not getting more than four or five requests a week. He believes by the end of March or beginning
of April, it will be more like 25 or 30 a week. Mar'.Hanks asked if he knew roughly how many were on the
list now. Mr. Ellis thought maybe a dozen but there is still some interest corning Mi .
Mr. Taylor asked if the goat was still in the Ockway Bay parking lot. Mr.Ellis stated he was going to
hire a flatbed truck and deliver it to the Tribal Council.
Mr.Ellis said he spoke with.lack Shepard of the Public Access Board. He will be sending a letter to
the Selectmen. He(.lack Shepard)has no problem with the Town expanding the public access point at the
end of wading place Road from three or four parking spaces to eight or ten. They are also willing to help
us with the expansion of the Great liver Boat Ramp for another eight or ten parking spaces for tilers.
2. Shellfish Constable lie ort—Mr. York
Mr. York reported that the water has been very warn this year. Waquoit Bay measured 451 in January.
For that reason we have had hardly any ice. There is Very little activity on the shellfish side. Mr. York
stated that it looks like we are going another State grant for about a minion shellfish seed, we've been
getting about 10}000 a year in State support for seeding programs. Mar. York also stated that people have
been asking him when the Mashpee River will be open for sheUfishing. The last sampling in late
December still showed some high bacteria counts. He reported the Mate would be sampling again next
week. He explained that during these wan n winters, it just doesn't get cold enough to kill off the bacteria.
Mr. York said that typically we can't open that place up until April, we need a period of low counts to let
the shellfish clean themselves out.
3. Connmittee..Reports
Fresh water—Mr.Taylor
Mr. Taylor reported they olid have a meeting on the fourth Thursday of the month. Steve Cadrin and.
Mr. Taylor were the o y two regular members that were there. George Bingham is the alternate and he
was participating as a voting member. Mr.Taylor stated that they are going to recommend to the
Selectmen that George Bingham come on as a rcgidaar conu-nittee member. Mr.Taylor said they don't
really know what the present status is on the lake level. As far as they can.see, it is in the hands of the
Conservation group. He stated they did discuss the committee goals and objectives for the coining year.
They are going to try and go over the regulations and everything for the use of the Lake at the next
2
