February 1999
Page 6.
Ms Balkusvis only the immediate construction area, that tied with
yellow tape, just within that designated area one has to be OSHA trained.
Mr. Sherman stated the berms and the ditches, everyone could get as close as
needed to those for observation? She stated yes.
k
Mr. wirsen stated unless they are using equipment in that area on the day
you visit. 1s alus stated exactly,
The Chair asked what is the distance required for separation and was told
50 feet.
Mr. wirsen advised exclusion depends upon the hazard.
Mr. Green stated there are people on the board who are OSHA trained.
Mr. Sherman stated progress and what is remaining can be reviewed. He
has a provisional order ofConditions worked out today. In order to keep the
timetable going, and after consultation with Bill Fisher, he felt comfortable
with issuing ars order of Conditions and he does also. No actual pump and
treat r construction of the berms would start until the submission and
approval and review of documents to include under Dotes 1, the go-
technical report on born construction. That would be subject to a final report
that would have to be reviewed by bill Fisher and Greg Taylor. Timing is
uncertain. Tentatively agreed is to have Bill Fisher be an ori-going resource
for the Commission over the next 10 weeks or so to meet with them weekly
and review the on-going investigations and male sure everything is going to
work with the berm construction.
The Chair asked what was the timing on the geo-technical report? Mr.
Sherman stated it is hopefully in the vicinity of tern weeks. Their incentive is
to get it clone correctly because they aren't going to be allowed to build any
berms until it is approved the way this is written.
The Chair asked how AFCEE felt about that? Ms Balkus stated they are
comfortable with it.
Mr. Sherman stated under #2 there was progress made on the monitoring.
They met with Steve Hurley last week and Dr. loss, the independent
observer. It has been stipulated that the actual pump and treat won't start
until that final version has been looked at by everyone and approved.
