I July 1999
Page s.
Mr. Sherman stated it is a tight lot but they have met what has been the
Commission's precedent. If you can't meet the 50', on previous occasions the
Commission has gone don to 35'. Anything below 3under the research
done, seems to have insignificant wildlife habitat or mitigation value. It has
been past precedent to accept it with a true 35' work limit which there i
here. There are no issues under the state wetlands Protection. Act for Land
Subject to Coastal storm Flowage which has no performance standards.
Under Chapter 172 they have met the Commission's minimal standards.
The Chair stated the edge of the harsh has been identified as ACEC and
asked if it actually ends at the edge of the Marsh' Mr. Sanicki stated in that
portion of Hamblin Pond that is correct. He is not familiar with the Micro-Fast
system.
Mr. Sherman advised it is a denitrifying system which is required whenever
it goes over 5 PPM for nitrogen, which would happen on a small lot like this.
If the leaching component of the septic system is within 100 feet and under
our jurisdiction, in this case it is in the flood zone so it doesn't matter, a
denitrifying system is required because it reduces nitrogen into the bay by at
least 55%, probably more.
Mr. Granf~ield asked what is the ultra violet: lir. Sherman stated that is
designed for when there are short distances from the leaching system to the
ocean; it is a sterilizer. 4
Mr. Cranfield stated the way it is laid out on the lot right now, the way the
engineering has been clone in laying out the corners of the house and leaching
