Determination,- which Motion was seconded by Carol Moore and so
voted unanimously.
.
6 . Request for Monitoring wells near Quashnet Bogs-Mr.
Sherman reported a request for two ) additional monitoring
wells at the Quashnet Bogs has been made. The proposed location
would be near the old, abandoned bog, one being approximately 60-
70 feet array, the other being a closer. one location is on the
southwest side of the abandoned road. In order to accomplish
what is being proposed, several trees will have to be removed.
Mr. Sherman has determined that every tree over six inches being
removed will be replaced by three 3 shrubs. Filings for
monitoring wells are not required under~ the State Act .
The Chairman entertained a motion.
MTI1T: John Johansen made a Notion to authorize the
Conservation Agent to make and carry forward the decision to
approve placement of additional monitoring wells with the
condition that every tree over six inches being removed will be
replaced by the planting of three shrubs; which Motion was
seconded by Ralph Shaw and so voted unanimously.
7 :20 Dario D. Sabatini, 147 Summersea Road, continued from
March 2nd., Notice of Intent.
The Chairman recognized David Sank i, cape & Islands
Engineering, who stated the original proposal called for a
vertical vinyl bullhead. Upon determination this would not be
appropriate for the adjacent salt marsh area, the plan has been
revised.
With reference to attempts to protect vegetation from
further erosion on the northern side, mr. Sanicki proposed the
use of gabions, filter fabric and hand excavation in order to
avoid heaver equipment on-site. Mr. Sanicki was making
references to the plan.
1r. Sanicli also stated there is to be an on-site Meeting
prior to installation with the contractor and the Conservation
Agent present.
Mr. Sherman recommended approval of the proposal with the
added condition that the exact revegetation be subject to an on-
site meeting and agreement with the contractor) ; to which Mr.
sani c} i agreed.
The chairman inquired as to the status of the salt marsh
line.
Mr. Sherman agreed the lime needs to be more clearly
defined. The work being proposed will take place above the line,
and will be completely staled-out prior to the installation of
said gabions. -5-
