16 lovemer 2000
Page 8.
Nor. Hamilton stated there were two iters to address, one related to the return
w f the revetment on the landward end of the north side of the property and the
second related to the landscaping plan which had not been presented at the
hearing. A revised plan will provide for both. They provided another cross
section on the return of the revetment. As it rales that turn, it has to be
steepened up and Borne down in elevation until it ties in with the existing
landform. There has been a cooperative effort in putting together a plan. He
showed - the Commission two pictures. There was existing ars existing
landscaping plan that had mitigative plantings and they are proposing
modification to that.
Mr. Rosenberg asked if this shows acceptably the landscaping? Mr. Sherman
stated both he and Ms Boretos agree that this is an improved plan that meets
the compensatory reeds for the disttarl ante caused by the revetment.
i
Mr. Hamilton stated there are two fundamental ways the plan was modified.
The revetment 'height has increased as discussed at the previous meeting,
which takes up part of the coastal bank that has vegetation now. Where is
strip along the front of the property that will be mitigated with plantings. The
second modification includes in the lawn area there were some additional areas
slated for plantings under the previously approved plan. Those plantings have
been moved also over to this area. There are mitigative plantings at the front Of
the house and also on both sides of the house. There is significantly more
area, a greater number and more diversity of species on this landscaping plan
than ghat was proposed previously. There are' six different species of varying
character according to comments received back from the Conservation office.
They are providing more than a one to one on the plantings because one of the
observations that was made- by Ms Boretos on site was that there is some
burrow habitat on the bark that cannot be mitigated. For that, they are
proposing more aggressive plantings.
Mr. Hamilton stated it is a complicated plan, to try to put it in perspective. It
describes homer it differs from what was approved previously. The pink and
purple, together, . represent areas that will be planted with the purple
representing new areas. The greenish represents the area that will be impacted-
by the revetment. The yellow area represents plantings included in the
previous . plan, not included on this plan in the same location but are
distributed amongst the area characterized by the purple. overall, there is
more area and a greater number of plants.
Mr. Rosenberg asked if there is any charge in the lawn? Mr. Sherman stated
there will be less lawn. He felt there was resolution of the major issues. He
asked Atty. ,Joyce if he was comfortable le with the possibility of closing upon.
