i <br /> . mr.. Sherman reported the David Sharpe Dedication service <br /> has been rescheduled for April 28, 20ol at 10 : 00 a.m. <br /> . MACC Annual Meeting - acknowledged. <br /> 7 :40-Board of Selectmen, for a bike path, a continuance from <br /> February 15th, a Notice of Intent. <br /> Mr. Sherman reported this matter had been continued for the <br /> purpose of reviewing details of the retaining wall . <br /> The Chairman recognized Norman Hares, BSC, representing the <br /> Selectmen, Tower. of Mashpee. He provided a visual of the proposed <br /> six tenth of a mile bike path extending from the Police/Fire <br /> complex to old Barnstable Road, joining Route 151 on the Horth <br /> side, all within the right of way of Route 151 . <br /> Mr. Hayes made references to the location of the Quashnet <br /> Raver which runs north to south under Route 151, a fifty foot <br /> culvert and a concrete head wall, extensive Bvw, .inland bank, and <br /> buffer area. The trees within the thirty foot right of way have <br /> been removed under Chapter 8 , state Tree Act. <br /> Mr. Hayes provided a diagram showing the proposed wall to be <br /> located on the wetland side of Route 181, the purpose of which <br /> will be to hold back the fill needed to construct the bike path. <br /> In an attempt to prevent erosion, the wall has been engineered so <br /> that the wall will be held in place by natural tension tamped <br /> soil with grave. base <br /> The bike path is eight feet, a two degree slope, the water <br /> is intercepted by the culvert and carried down to the catch <br /> basin. Mr. Hayes made reference to the location of storm drains. <br /> Proposed silt fence and haybales to be placed above the retaining <br /> gall . References were made to that area which will remain in it <br /> native state. Request has been made to DPW to preserve as many <br /> trees as possible in order to maintain a buffer. There will be <br /> some cutting, and fill will be required at the slope. <br /> Where was some discussion regarding storm water run off. <br /> Mr. Hayes stated the catch basin will intercept storm water <br /> from Route 151 which currently flows directly into the resource <br /> area without any treatment. <br /> Mr. Sherman suggested a maintenance schedule protocol be <br /> included in the Order of Conditions, to which Mr. Hares agreed t <br /> provide complete with weekly construction reports. <br /> Mr. Sherman noted the wall construction being proposed has <br /> proven to function very well, however he suggested ars engineer <br /> stamp be required on the drawing. Mr. Hayes responded the <br /> drawings being presented are schematics, and that the final plans <br /> will be stamped. <br />
