t <br /> John Johansen brought the matter of flow from the Child' s <br /> River to Johns Pond to the attention of the Commission. M . <br /> Sherman agreed this particular situation does need attention <br /> something that should be discussed in detail as it is a <br /> complicated situation. <br /> This matter was concluded at this point, there being no <br /> further discussion, the Chairman thanked Mr. Hander for his <br /> presence and input. <br /> Old Business-continued <br /> 2 . The Chairman asked for clarification of process <br /> regarding the New seabur r issue. NEPA granted New Seabur r <br /> permission to proceed with Phase I, a 100, 000 gallon treatment <br /> plant. <br /> There was some explanation/discussion regarding the <br /> status of Certification, jurisdictional determinations and <br /> requirements, the Appeals process, and Conservation Commission <br /> jurisdiction. <br /> Tt was suggested that additional r eeti'ngs be arranged. with <br /> New Seabury, and that the important issue of nitrogen loading <br /> impacts be discussed. <br /> . Mass Audubon has requested permission to restrict <br /> protected areas/coastal waterbird Program; permission for which <br /> has always been granted in the past. Request has also been made <br /> that the Town consider erecting "No Dogs Allowed" signs. <br /> By unanimous vote of the Commission it was agreed to approve <br /> and support both requests having been made from the Audubon <br /> Society. <br /> . Eatth Day Environmental Awards-Mr., Sherman sug ested the <br /> award span be expanded to three and encouraged nominations. <br /> It was the consensus of the Commission to recognize the <br /> following: Don Braybank, George "Chuck" Greene, and Beverly <br /> Kane. <br /> After some discussion it was agreed to expand nominations <br /> further for a total of four to include John Johansen in <br /> recognition of his many gears of volunteer~ service. <br /> MOTION: Carol Moore made a motion to present a total of <br /> four Awards recognizing the following: Don Bbn , George <br /> "Chuck" Greene, John Johansen, and Beverly Kane; which Motion was <br /> seconded by Michael Talbot and so voted unanimously. <br /> -13- <br />
