Motion made, seconded and unanimously carried to approve the Agent's acceptance
to serve on the Mashpee Multi-Hazard Community Planning team and Elliot Rosenberg
will be the alternate.
. Memo from the Assistant DPW director regarding disposal of seaweed. Bob said he
received this memo which concerns the permit we gave to the Popponesset Beach
Association for the removal of Brack . The Town's transfer station is not accepting
Brack, and they have asked the Town to accept it. The merino says it may take months
to work this out. Bob spoke to Glen Harrington, He lth Agent, and he is in favor of the
Town accepting it because it rakes good compost.
. RFAA, 240 Surf Drive. Bob said we have a request to replace a porous driveway
with an eco stone driveway. Bob recommended approval.
Motion made, seconded and unanimously carried to approve this request for an
administrative approval to substitute the porous driveway with an eco stone driveway.
. ' FAA-SE 3.1856, 29 Monahansett Road.. Bob said Dave Sa icki has submitted the
plan we requested at the last 'meeting and Bob recommended approval.
Motion 'made, seconded and unanimously carried to approve this pian.
. meed to change nitrogen load and lawn regulations. Bob said he was on his boat in
Ockway Pay a month ago and he has never seen the bay this bad. He said the
problem is only going to get worse even if vire shut off evert septic system tomorrow.
He is beginning to think that we should tighten up our regulations by 1 abandoning our
policy of not requiring a two-bedroom house to have a nitrogen loading system and
2 abandoning our lawn policy. we can't monitor lawns as to whether owners are
fertilizing or not, even the legal lawns. so he's wondering if we should not go back to
the days when we said no lawns are allowed. If they followed our orders on
maintaining lawns, it would be ok, but there is no war to monitor what type of fertilizer
and grass seed they are using. Bob said we've probably issued 50-60 lawn permits,
and he thinks there are only two people who are turning in their annual fertilizer
reports. We can 'monitor the top soil depth, and if it is 6" deep, they would need only
one or two fertilizer applications per year.
Michael said that Falmouth uses some of their AFCEE 'money to educate the public on
lawns.. Eiiiot said there are probably 5-6 illegal lawns in his area, including a couple
within the last year or so. Bob said he's already processing more enforcements on
lawns than he can handle. Len suggested we write a press release even' time an
illegal lawn is cited, state why it is a problem: and give it to the Mashpee Enterprise.
Jack didn't like the idea of naming the owners. Len suggested we invite the editorial
board of the Enterprise to interview the Commission.
i
