Al Orlando, 40 Wheeler Road, commended the Air Force for their good work.
Suzanne Tanner, 140 Whaler Road, asked 1) will a second application have any
compounded effects and 2) do we know of any other times when there have been more
than one application. Bob said 1) he thinks Dave Mitchell is aware of a project where
they did It more than once, and 2) our engineers and chemists were on board almost
every minute during the application and were ready to stop it at the sign of a slightest
problem, and we had no significant problems of any kind. Mr. Swartzbaugh said he
understands that it was applied very deep in the water, as opposed to just to the
surface, which helped to result in no fish kills.
Motion made, seconded and unanimously carried to accept the amendment of the
original order which will include the original protocol and conditions.
7:30 p.m., Edward Keelan, 4 Keelan Way (construct house, deck, septic, utilities,
driveway, remove vegetation, remove existing lawn and revegetate areas). Dave
Sanicki, Cape & Islands Engineering, represented the applicant. Bob said this is a
case where the two permits lapsed before anything was done. We reopened them and
informed the applicant that we have new standards since the first permits were issued,
and this will result in considerably more revegetation. He recommended approval.
Motion made, seconded and unanimously carried to approve the plan.
• 7:35 p.m., Edward Keelan, 3 Keelan Way (construct house, deck, septic, utilities,
driveway, remove vegetation, remove existing lawn, and revegetate areas). Dave
Sanicki represented the applicant and said they want to do the same thing as in the
previous filing. Michael asked if there is a management plan to keep invasive growth
out in future years. Bob said whoever does the plantings will have to submit to us
something more specific.
Motion made, seconded and unanimously carried to approve the plan.
7:40 p.m., Robert Powers, 306 Monomoscoy Road (construct house, porch and deck,
septic, utilities, driveway). Dave Sanicki represented the applicant and presented the
plan. At Bob's request, Dave will move the five ft. strip of revegetation as shown in the
plan to another area where it will have more value for wildlife habitat.
Pete McLachmon, 19 Great River Road, asked what the policy is regarding the
applicant's removal of trees in a certain area. He was told nothing can be removed in
that area under this permit.
It became apparent that the description of the project did not include fill and new
contour lines. Therefore, it was decided that the applicant must submit a new plan
•
4
