Board of Health Meeting, -octoerF , . , Minutes
CHL: when the plan was submitted, the 16th of October. Just thought _.
you should know what our records show.
Terry: OK, Carl, can you clarify that at all.?
i
Carl: Yes, I spoke to John Slainsky, and he said that right have been
the date, I don't want to get into saying anything, but John said the
letter was probably taken in with other plans before that dat
amybe the date it was stamped. nay not necessarily be the date it was
dropped off everybody doesn' t know if the plan is stamped the date it
is dropped off.
CHL: It goes in, the day its ' dropped off, its ' stamped. You got any-
thing to say on this Chas ,
BB: Well, I, or you have mentioned the probability, possibility and
knowledge of the plume coming from the septage treatment plant and what
we' re concerned with is not so much that, we' re concerned more with what
was or would be indicated to us in one test anyway of admittedly a high
draw down in a deep well in another area, north of the plume and west
of the plume, in other words (pointing to the map) we ' re talking of -up
in this area where the cranberry bog exists and there is an aur- flow
area from the base, that something has washed down in there and is now
within the water shed area, in the aquifer area, wheeler load we know
is down here but we have no idea .of where this is going, we have a. feeling
because of the depth of the well that shows an intrusion of some sort
and the type of test that was imposed there that it might be below a
shallow home well, but we 're not sure of that and that ' s the reason
for posting a moratorium to rake people aware that we feel very defi-
nitely a problem up there. We don't know, it' s beyond our resources
at this time to define. The average water to t that you would get from
the County for taility of water is not the type of test that would
show up a volati me. .
CHL: If there is such an animal up there, it hasn't been proven one way
r another.
Carl: Yeh -but aren't these wells tested basically, or, random checks
being taken , up there
CHL: We have taken samples up there.
Carl : No problem at all
CFB: So far
CHL: on the home level
FB: on the hone level there hasn ' t -be-en, we 're waiting now for the
test results that the Army or the. Air Force. I guess I should say, has
been taking in the Briarwood, not Briarwood ah, Tritown Horseshoe Bend
the, I see we have two members of the Committee that has been working
on the Ashumet area, and I know you've had meetings and I 'd like at this
time- to know what further innformation you have.
RFT: well I read verbatim what Mr. KerFfoot had Pref acedour; meeting with
him the other day and he said,
"You can probably make the argument that you have a potentially
affected area, the moratorium you have around Ashumet Pond now, is, I 'd
say, is valid in terms of what the position of the plume that exists
across the area into the recharge area an up hereand he is pointing
to the area that you just singled out) and potential facet of other
materials in the runway run- f that' s not fully evaluated now, but,
in terms - of what action Falmouth just took I would say it' s quite
justified right now.
