Board of Health Fleeting, October 2 , 1985, Minutes
we set the moratorium date and hey, if you want it, go -ahead. I wo ldn' t
have a clear conscience, I want you to know exactly everything we know,
and what we suspect and depending on Town counsel ' s word to us, it' s u
to you to make your mind upI know it doesn' t sound like much.
Ms. Lynch: OK
Mrs. Montgomery: You know it really puts nye in a bind
CFB: It puts us in a terrible situation,
Leen Montgomery: I 'm leon Montgomery and that' s my wife Norma,, the reason
I carne clown tonight was to ask you if there was any- kind of. an idea .of ,
time-wise I know you fellows are beating your heads against the wall too,
but, I 'm sitting here and I 've already gotten a construction loam out, so
on and so forth, you know, I 'm just wonder ing if I should go to the bank
and say, hey, you- know, let ' s cut this thing off, because I 'm paying in-
terest and I don' t -know what to do, that' s all. I 'm looking for is an
answer to time-wise.
CFB: What we were hoping to be able to do, and we got stalled there be-
cause there was difficulty with the county personnel, in that, they had
lost their operator- for the gaschronoreter, and they just put a roan on,
and what we would like to do now is to meet with the people from the
County and take a few samples from select wells in that area and put them
through the eats testing, to see if there are volatiles there, but it ' s
not going to make us any that happy because as I said in the beginning
the one well whcih has shown difficulty, showing that there is some--
thing there that shouldn't be theme is, a much -deeper well than the aver--
age well.
Montgomery:: How deep is that well?
F : Ah, I think it' s 165 or 170 feet, it' s a largo draw well, it' s a
heavy draw- well and this showed up during the draw clown period, so that
there is a possibility a single - home well might be above it, but there
is also •the. possibility that it night not, and this is what scares us.
CHL: You see one thine there is a lot of building -in that area, it
starts to draw on the water, what are we drawing in from other areas, the
pull comes this way and right now everything could come out hunky dory,
but down deep she' s going to show up, two years, five years, from now,
that' s basically what ' s going to happen, that' s what are worry is right
now, so until we get a Little more information, we 're kind of stymied
right now with the moratorium.
Ms. Lynch: May I ask what area that was in
Montgomery: was that over in the Briarwood area itself
CFH: No that was through this area (pointing to runway runoff area)
CHL: No, we had one up above Briarwood.
cF : That was up in this area (correction by CHL) " o, over more, riga
there your finger is on it. "
CFB: I n ,thi s area, interrupt onie "No,, over this way more, come over
to the top of Briarwood. "
CFB : OK, right on the top, if you look at the water slope from in here
corning at a right angle to that slope line, it would indicate that there
is a po s s i-bi l ity that - that' s where it' s moving.
Mrs. Montgomery: You mentioned that you wanted to talk to 'Iowa counsel,
hopefully this Thursday
