.• MINUTES April 24, 1989 7 BOARD of HEALTH <br /> Mr, costa stated the D.P.W. was budgeted $10,000,.000 for trash pick-up. <br /> . Murphy responded that coney was to be utilized to dispose of the <br /> trash at the landfill <br /> Mr. Greelish requested Mr. Virgilio to inform this Board if any further <br /> problems arise, in regards to trash pick-up,-up, in order that alternatives may <br /> be sought. Mr. Greelish questioned Mr. Virgilio as to the current status of <br /> the metal pile. <br /> Mr. Virgilib responded that they are now able to transport the white <br /> goods and commented if the D. .W, continues to operate the landfill/transfer <br /> station then three trailers rust be purchased, once purchased expenses for <br /> hauling will be reduced. Mr. Viriglio commented this is pending annual -town <br /> meeting. <br /> Mr,. Costa questioned Mr. Virgilio -as to whether a company could be re- <br /> tained to haul the metals -and commented. other towns are having the metal <br /> hauled free of charge. <br /> Ir. Virgilio responded a person would be required to disassemble the <br /> equipment on a daily basis and stated he was not aware of any companies <br /> that would disass mble the equipment free of charge. <br /> Discussion tools plane regarding the collection of tires at which time <br /> Mr. Murphy commented D.E, .E. has regulations regarding the amount of tires <br /> stored at one site, } <br /> Mr, Virgilio commented he would like one week in which to research <br /> this matter. <br /> Mr. Costa questioned Mr. Virgilio as to whether monies could be with- <br /> drawn <br /> ith- <br /> dra n from the $10,000.00 to haul away tires. <br /> Mr. Virgilio responded, in his opinion , white goods are the main con- <br /> cern at this -time and commented he could begin accepting tires within the <br /> week. <br /> i <br /> Mr. costa stated tires will be accepted from residential sticker hold- <br /> ers only. <br /> Mr. Murphy recommended a limitation. on the amount of tires accepted at <br /> * r <br /> the gate. <br /> Mr. Oreelish suggested -two tines per�car and stated any cars with more <br /> -than two tires will be required tokconsul t with the Board of Health <br /> Mr, Costo voiced his concern as to whether Mr. Virgilio is prepared <br /> to accept t-i res at f the landfill.. <br /> Mr. Murphy SU ggested Mr. Virgilio .meet w i.th th i Board May 8, 1989 <br /> which will allow Mr. Vic ilio time in which to prepare for tire disposal <br />
