MINUTES May 25, 1989 4 BOARD of HEALTH <br /> Mr. Virgilio questioned the Board as to the fine for illegal dumping. <br /> Mr. Costa responded there is an article proposed for town meeting which <br /> will impose 300.oo fine for illegal dumping. Mr. Costa questioned Mr. <br /> Virgilio' as to whether the abandoned cars by the old dump have been eIimihated. <br /> M . Virgilio relayed that the cars still remain in that area. <br /> M . Costa requested M . Virgilio to question the Building Inspector as <br /> - o whether he has cited the' owner. <br /> OIL COLLECTION_ <br /> Mr. V i rg i l i o- stated he would like to construct a tank inside t'he bldg. <br /> with a spi ket outside and commented he would like to institute waste oil <br /> i, collection one day per week. Mr. Virgilio explained that the existing tank <br /> is 15 years old and would like to purchase a. new 275 gallon tank as the li -� <br /> ense lie now retains is for 270 gallons. <br /> Mr. Gree l i s p questioned the amount of oil collected in one week. <br /> Mr. Virgilioresponded about 10 gallons which is recycled and utilized <br /> for equipment. 11 <br /> Mr. i reelish questioned Mr. Virgilio as - o whether he has a,,spill con- <br /> tainer. <br /> Mr. Virgilio stated no and commented in speaking with D.E. . . they <br /> did relay that a spill container was not necessary as hi-s license is for <br /> 270 gallons only. <br /> Mr. Gree 1 i s h i stated the i n-form t i on- rece i Ved b :th i s ,Board from D.E.Q.E. <br /> does requ i re...a s i l l{ tank'--even'- if "i. `i s on I Y .a sma.l 1. g vera. r�. <br /> 4 � r <br /> Mr. Greelish questioned Mr. Virgilio ,as to whether he proposes a ramp <br /> leading to the tanks. <br /> Mr. Virgilio responded, he i s'ppro os i ng a l evatd walkway to a plat- <br /> form, and commented they will accept anti-freeze, greases , etc. ., as long as, <br /> they are separated. Mr. V i r�g i l i o stated samples are taken and stored on <br /> the D.P.W. premises. . -.j 4 _, <br /> Mr. Doherty questioned as to whether the contractor would have any <br /> recourse in regards to who' s responsibility it is for the oil collection, <br /> hazardous waste etc. . <br /> Mr. Greelish responded the contract requires that the contractor handle <br /> all incoming materiails, the disposition of thea is the- Board of ea 1 th 's � re- <br /> sponsibility. <br /> M . Costa questioned whether oil- collection will began once the transfer <br /> station is operational . <br /> Mr. Greelish stated all functions should be operational at that tirye. <br />
